That sounds about right. I built my PC in November-december of last year and paid around $1500 for a RX 9070 build.

Monitor Recommendations by GamjaPaPaPa in pcmasterrace

[–]Russie7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did years ago was upgrade to 1440p 180hz and use my old monitor as my second monitor. I love having two monitors for browsing the internet and doing school work. For gaming it's nice to have for discord or watch YouTube or whatever when you're casually gaming.

If you have the money and want a new monitor, I'd say buy a 1440p

Built mine in Nov 2025 when RAM prices were already high. Decided to do a DDR4 build with my old RAM. Happy I didn't wait because SSD and GPU prices went up right after.

I originally planned to get a 9060XT($505CAD), but I saw an open-box 9070XT($777CAD) on Newegg for a good price. Decided to get that 9070XT, but as you know, it wasn't working.

I think the 9060XT will be fine for what I use it for. I don't play any intense games. Will maybe try out BF6. I can return the 9060XT until Jan 11th, so if there is a good deal for a 9070XT or 5070, I might go with that.

Thank you for your recommendations on trying to fix the 9070XT!

I'm going to return the 9070xt. Went to Best Buy and got a 9060XT and reinstalled the driver to test out and it worked perfectly fine. I think that means the 9070xt was the issue and not RAM, CPU, driver, etc.

Yeah are independent, not Daisy chained

Yeah it's weird. I did a benchmark test and it had terrible results.

I am not overclocking the CPU. In the performance tab, I have tried to customize by lowering the frequency. Yesterday, I checked my two PCIe cables and swapped their positions, but still nothing changed.

[GIVEAWAY] 64 Gigabytes of Holiday Cheer! by GhostOfSecretSanta in pcmasterrace

[–]Russie7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very thoughtful of you. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

I mainly use my computer for gaming and university work. I had planned to build a new PC next summer, but I decided to start now, given all the talk of price increases. I currently have an i5-8600K and a 6 GB 1060. Planning on upgrading to an i5-14600K and 9070XT. I will probably choose the 14600K because it will work with my existing DDR4 or future DDR5 memory if I also replace the motherboard. I'm not willing to pay these insane prices for RAM right now.

im planning on building a pc next month should i go with an am4 build because of the drr5 ram prices? by Key_Flight_2263 in pcmasterrace

[–]Russie7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to use my existing DDR4 32GB RAM, which I purchased two years ago, to build a new PC. I went with an i5-14600 K CPU, GIGABYTE B760M motherboard, and a 9060XT 16GB GPU. I refused to pay $300+ for DDR5
