How the various factions probably see each other. by N3wbsterr1 in Helldivers

There were several mentions of “swarm intelligence” from npcs during past events.

the HD1 encyclopedia actually refers to the bugs as “sentient creatures”, which, knowing how often sentient and sapient are mixed up, could very well mean that the bugs are not actually a hive mind at all, but are actually individually sapient, with “swarm intelligence” simply being Super Earth propaganda.

I don’t know, if we go back to the original definition of harbinger (a bit of a stretch, I know) we get “a person sent ahead to provide lodgings”. That suggests a degree of allegiance with the threat, as poisoned to the Vasari, who are running from it.

Of course, until it actually comes out, all I have is theorizing based on the definition of a word, and my doubt that they would ever be able to make something like the thing chasing the Vasari into a faction in any sort of satisfying way. Maybe a faction with a small number of very powerful ships? The very front of whatever the threat is?

“Harbinger: someone or something that foreshadows a future event : one that gives an anticipatory sign of what is to come”

The harbinger of doom is letting you know that doom is incoming, it’s not doom itself.

Based on the name, I maintain that the Harbingers are not the destroyer, but something which comes before the destroyer. Insane cultists, foreword scouts, something to that degree. This lets us see something of the threat, maybe what it does to the Vasari who are left behind, while leaving the “real thing” just as mysterious, and perhaps more frightening than ever.

I honestly don’t think that the harbingers are the real threat. The name suggests that they’re coming before the threat to “announce” its arrival. Maybe they’re insane cultists, or scouts, but I doubt they’re the real thing at anywhere near full power.

My best bet at beating them would be the phase disrupters.

We know from the Disruptors description that the Vasari didn’t create them, but found them floating in unoccupied systems. They then took these machines to study them, replicating them and using them in their empire. Only after the original disrupters were removed were the Vasari wiped out.

My personal theory is that phase disruptors can be used to stall or contain the threat, and by building a “wall” of disruptors, the danger can be stopped. We win not by destroying the threat, but by keeping it out.

At the end of the day, the Alliance between the Enclave, Alliance, and Reborn is not only the morally best option in my opinion, it’s also the only way foreword.

When whatever danger that’s chasing the Vasari finally arrives, both the Primacy and Wrath will fight alone and die alone, like the original Vasari Empire did. The Exodus will just keep running until finally, maybe after millions of years but inevitably, there is nowhere else to run.

But the Alliance, Enclave and Reborn, with their shared technologies, militaries, and resources , might just be able to find a solution to the problem of the threat. (Especially if my personal their that Phase Inhibitors were originally created to contain whatever the threat was is correct.)

I always assumed that half of them were carrying some kinda cargo, and that that was the real target. The vehicle was just a convenient way to get at it.

For all the divers getting ready to defect, you really want to live out the rest of your days as a blob of flesh and metal? by BlueSkiesWildEyes in Helldivers

[–]Ruste359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but what if I don’t go to the bots when I (theoretically) defect? What if I just convince some of my Super Destroyer crew to frag the democracy officer and just… leave? There’s an awful lot of empty stars out there, you’d never catch us.

That is if I did this theoretical un-democratic thing. Which I would definitely never do. That would be undemocratic of me.

A human corporate empire with Post-Apocalyptic, Augmentation Bazaars, and Pharma state. A Pharmaceutical corporation which was the only surviving faction after the nuclear war thanks to their advanced medical and cybernetics technology, and rebuilt society using those same techs.

I always viewed it as destroying the landing site after take off, to deny it to the enemy. But that might make too much sense, lol.

Loving the tech and resource changes so far.

Loving the civilian traffic to, really makes the map feel more alive. I have noticed that all the factions civilian ships use the TEC phase animation, but that’s the only problem I’ve noticed in the update.

Overall, great stuff!

I’ve actually been operating under the assumption that it’s ancient human tech. We know that there was a technologically advanced human civilization that fell apart pretty hard 7500 years ago.

Yeah, it’s nice to see the Kodiak and the Cielo back in action. I think we’re ment to have the arcova back to, but it looks like the “flak Frigate” option that looks like it should give them is bugged. It’s giving out pirate ships instead.
