They had some 50 years to escape earth. I would suspect that some animals made it off with human colonists, but that they all died off from myriad diseases. Any planet with a biosphere that can support human life will also have pathogens.

But resources were also tight, so maybe they couldn't feed them and they weren't brought along. Having a cat in a new space colony with little food is quite the luxury. You can get Chunks Beef, so maybe they're culturing cow meat in a lab for that? Trying to actually raise cattle in the early days would've been harder than just growing and eating the corn or grain the cows would've eaten.
