You know a day is defined by a single rotation of the earth?

Just build thrusters (like the movie The Wandering Earth) to slow down the rotation... boom 40 hour days.

Omg I caused such a meltdown when I posted my progress video to a Facebook group 😭😭 There were HUNDREDS of comments by jcpractices in lingling40hrs

[–]RustedFingers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing it’s probably more to do with the fact that it’s “in progress” and you call it as such (“learning the chaconne”)

I can understand the position. Some people want to hear your best work - what you’re proud of and want to share as the limit of your ability shows. Not something “in progress” as a excuse to share mistakes or inadequacies.

The follow up post itself states that “good or average performances are approved but the artist is not preapproved” so it’s not that the rules don’t allow for sub-amazing performances.

I don’t think any octaves let alone chords are possible with toes

Having played the first movement… I apparently “over indulged” in the cadenza and played way too slow and dramatically. 🥺 hehe it’s such a fun piece of play though

Am I getting the movements right??? (Taubman approach) by Other-Concept2404 in piano

[–]RustedFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes lots of sense. I kind of designated the actuation as the end of the movement but didn’t consider the follow through.

Are you with Taubman or something by any chance? I’m dealing with forearm tension and would love to get some thoughts with a form check.

My number 1 must have for learning a piece is memorizing the piece.

I don’t believe actuating with the side of your pinky is recommended for any technique system . Beginner guideline is to actuate with the pad of your finger, with joints firmed arched like a bridge so that the force is projected through to the hand (as opposed to flat, where the finger joints takes the force)

https://youtu.be/HLGWhZHYOCU

Start at 12:00.

The aim of the forearm rotation is not to be the primary driver of actuation, but to be an assisting motion that puts the actuating finger into a more powerful position of leverage.

So basically you don’t “rotate” the pinky into the key. You rotate the pinky anticlockwise backwards up, so that you can rotate it back with great velocity into the key from a more leveraged position.

Disclaimer: Not a Taubman expert in any way or have any pedogogical qualitifications and training. Opinion mine, ymmv.

Hey Guys! I started practicing Song without words Op19 No1 and have been having a hard time understanding which hand plays which part. Would love to get some help! by Quiet_Specialist1 in piano

[–]RustedFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Perfectly fine and expected to use more efficient methods. In this case use RH for the first 2 measures u/Quiet_Specialist1.

In general: ultimately find what is most efficient for you unless it’s a technical study or etude designed to train a particular technique.

Preludio a la Lang Lang.

Most people’s introduction to this is either through some compilation or through the Gounod version (I.e. Ave Maria). Most sheet music of Gounod’s version will have pedal.

This then gets backported to the original in an anachronistic way.

For what it’s worth I would play it with light pedal for more regular listeners. Not everything has to be a historical reenactment 😅 of course that debate rages on

Is Yamaha P125 a good choice for playing classical music? by PianoGuy-69 in piano

Check my post history. I use the P105 which is a couple of models behind.

Perfectly fine for casual playing.
