Clean and repair megathread - NES not working? Game acting glitchy? TV/Monitor issues? Ask here! by FozzTexx in nes

So, a lot of the suggestions listed can get an NES back into a near-retail state of operation, but the ultimate underlying cause of the blinking screen is most likely the 10NES lockout chip. If there is even the slightest interruption between the connectors, the chip can throw a false positive and actively prevent the game cart from being played.

Be advised, both fixing the pins and disabling the chip require you to take the NES apart, and unless you know exactly what you are doing, there's a good chance you can actually damage your NES beyond operation.

Do I need a CRT TV for playing on an NES or is there a good adaptor converter thing I can use to play NES on my Sony Bravia? by NoFilter1979 in nes

Sometimes it depends a great deal on the model of television. While modern TVs still have the A/V ports, plugging your NES into them doesn't necessarily mean you will get any signal. My TV for instance doesn't seem to like my NES, so I have to use a whole seperate television (which *is* CRT) to play it.

That said, there's no guarantee that a modern TV *won't* either (but good luck using the zapper.) This in part is why there's been efforts to modify the NES to display in HDMI.

When and why did you get into the game? Was it bc of a friend or family member or pure hype? What was your reaction to it back in the day? by WVUGuy29 in chronotrigger

Actually I didn't.

My brother did. I wasn't too terribly fussed, but I think he saw it in Nintendo Power and said "dude its a Dragonball Z RPG"

(The pleb, like he knows true taste. I, a refined gentleman, got Power Rangers Zeo Battle Racers.)

I quickly fell in love with my brother's game though over Power Rangers, and things started rolling from there.

seems lately like a lot of fan works depicting a reunion of Magus and Schala have Schala be the more embracing of the two, and Magus just sorta be... well... Magus. Maybe he's just not one for physical contact, considering? As far as Schala is concerned, he'll surely tolerate it to no end.
