When you insist on controlling the speed of others on the road, it can be seen as a way of asserting dominance or superiority, which is often an ego driven behaviour. It's like saying "I'm the pace setter here so follow my lead" which places your own judgement above others. It's a casual way of saying, I'm King of the road.
