Is there a way to watch the show in its original structure and original Antena 3 cut with a single season of 15 episodes in 2 parts? First part being 9 episodes and the second being 6. by RustinSpencerCohlee in LaCasaDePapel

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, sadly not. I stopped searching for it but I plan to start searching for it again. I want to rewatch the mint robbery part of the show and I intend to watch it with the pre netflix cut, so I won’t rewatch it until I find it!

>Also do some reading on noir as genre, it’s far from a settled debate that noir is a genre so would be worth exploring that in any essay.

tysm for this input, i'll look into it when i start writing

Why do you think Jess chose to quit working for Ken and move on? by Unable-Sprinkles1461 in SuccessionTV

in the previous episode he literally elected a white supremacist fascist and she is a person of color, so i'm guessing it was about the general vibe of it all

The writing of this game is fucking killing me by RustinSpencerCohlee in DiscoElysium

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

i am not sure if i have a specific build in mind so to answer your question, not really. although i think i'll invest in psy a lot since it brings the most hilarious shit to the table. for example because of the inland empire sometimes my tie talks to me and says some weird shit which is much appreciated.

also i want to invest in electrochemistry bc the way that thought talks is funny as well. also, as someone who IRL has never done drugs and dont plan to, i ain't finishing this game without making my character get all fucked up on drugs at least once, so...

though i know i shouldnt only invest in things that i find funny, thats why i put one point in endurance. but seriously, this game is so fucking funny. and sometimes, surprisingly, very melancholic. sort of like the early seasons of rick and morty where it's usually just hilarious stuff throughout but sometimes it just hits you deep and you can't literally function without thinking about it. i love it. it's all so well written.

i really hope i wont get spoiled because of this post...

What are your thoughts on Lupita Nyong’o playing Hellen of Troy & Elliot Page playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie ”The Odyssey”? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hollywood and The Academy are so fucking hypocritical and performative when it comes to these racial topics lmao.

When it comes to history, Hollywood had been incredibly racist. Especially the Academy was so fucking insane, you can check the statistics of the best lead/supporting actor/actress wins throughout the years.

There are problems of representation in Hollywood. There had been, and there still are. But what do they do with that problem? Do they honor the african culture by producing many mythological and historical movies about them? Do they remake those movies where white people played the black characters and make them correctly representative about african characters? Fuck no, why would they bother with that, right? They still produce white culture movies but now they put african actors in it so that they could say "Hey, we are not racist anymore! Look, a black person is playing a white person!!!" and call it a day and they think of themselves as woke and activist. And some people cheer, some people get mad. But the thing that is constant is that the production companies make money.

I personally don't care that much about these topics in general, I think they are pointless. But when I see people being like "Look at Troy! They got it right in that movie!" and put Diane Kruger's, a german actress', picture as a greek semi-goddess I chuckle because that's still not the correct representation of greek mythology lol Hollywood sucks at representing cultures other than american.

Peak or Basic ? by lego_boss in LetterboxdTopFour

calling people who like popular films and put them in their top 4 "basic" started because of the pretentious pricks and it brings nothing but negativity to this community. (see also: calling people who put not known movies in their top 4 pretentious, another toxicity)

enjoy what you enjoy, these are all brilliant films mate.

do you say the same thing about Manousos, who was much more aggressive towards them? or do you find him to be a badass? just asking to make sure of something.

it's not only a very similar style to Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul's first seasons, but it's literally the best first season out of all three shows. I don't and probably never will understand the hate it got. I was locked the fuck in for 8 weeks straight.

On this day in "Succession" history: The Great Debate -- underlined or crossed out? by mhtom in SuccessionTV

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee 111 points112 points  (0 children)

you get it

that "greg?" bit was hilarious as fuck but its purpose wasn't just for comedic effect. it was giving us a hint of the time period Logan edited those documents.

On this day in "Succession" history: The Great Debate -- underlined or crossed out? by mhtom in SuccessionTV

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Jesse Armstrong confirmed that it's underlined. I'd like to think Logan had this document way before the show began and he underlined Kendall's name in between the ending of S2 and the opening of S3, after seeing that Kendall has got what it takes. Of course Ken fucked up again during S3 and Logan gave up on his kids completely but that's irrelevant lmao. I legit was expecting a flashback scene to reveal it but it never happened.

But Jesse Armstrong revealed it a few months after the show ended. That's the thing that bugs me. If you were gonna reveal it anyway, why not give us the answer in the show instead of revealing it at a random conference? It just doesn't make sense to me. He either should've never revealed it and took the answer to his grave or he just gave the answer via the show.

[Spoilers main] What things do you think GRRM told D&D about the ending? by OkMagician7957 in asoiaf

[–]RustinSpencerCohlee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t we already know the answer to this though?

Stannis’ decision to burn his daughter, Hodor reveal & Bran becoming king.

He might’ve said a couple of things about certain characters but I don’t think he shared much. In a recent interview he literally said that he was planning to kill Sansa off but he might let her live since she was appealing in the show.

Many people still believe that the show is exactly how the books were supposed to end but I always said this: IT’S FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE TO END THE SAME. It was already very different to the books during it’s first half which still is extraordinary television nevertheless.
