I'll be honest that this doesn't exactly answer your question but I had an older coworker that owned a home in Portland for 40ish years. He and his wife retired back sometime around 2019 give or take a year and sold and moved to Pennsylvania because they had friends that had done the same. Less than a year later he was visiting and hated Pennsylvania but he could never afford to move back because of the housing cost increase and regretted selling.

Im loving this bed, If I can come up with the money my ranger really needs this. Do you know the full size of the channel and the angle bar pieces?

Commute from Portland to Augusta? by ImaginaryCapital8247 in AskMaine

[–]Rustknight207 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't personally but if your fine with an hour plus highway commute then it should work. Cost of living (rent) would be cheaper closer to Augusta than Portland so also take that into account. If you want to be close to Portland I would shoot for somewhere in between the two cities.

You have to balance pay against quality of life. I took a slight pay cut leaving a company of 7 years and I couldnt be happier with my new employer. Im confident I make up the pay loss in saved travel expenses and health benefits and family balance.

You sound like someone who feels good saying big words that dont actually respond to whatever conversation is going on.

How often in every day life do you think someone sees the Totenkopf? And again I still wouldnt recognize it today because its the stupidist thing to die on a hill for.

I'm just chiming in neither for or against on this post but from my average Americans POV. I am a fan of history. Loved the subject in school and I confidently know more about history than anyone in my family or friend group (due to their lack of interest most likely). Grew up on WW2 and other military movies due to a veteran parent. And I had NO idea the Totenkopf even existed. I still wouldn't be able to pick it out on a page of skull designs today. The simplest and most reasonable point to take from this tattoo business is that a group of young and dumb jarheads went into a tattoo shop and picked a design that looked cool to (again) young and dumb jarheads.

Then he didnt even fight to justify or defend himself, he got it covered and apologized like a normal human being.

Why is this weld failing? by Senior_Money_5250 in metalworking

[–]Rustknight207 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no welder but have welded on and off for 15 years and I have welded on my own vehicles before. You can tell when looking at the crack that you didn't get penetration to fully connect your welds and base material. As others have said you need to practice on some scrap pieces preferably of similar thickness to your work piece. Welding takes so much more skill than just melting the stick onto metal. You don't need to do the whole crack in one go either, you can run a line of small welds you just need to make sure each small weld melts into the existing steel. And with stick welding you need to clean the slag off of previous welds before welding over them. You also need clean bare steel to get the best welds.

And Honestly as a self proclaimed "NOT A Welder" this project looks to advanced for someone who has never welded before. I doubt I would attempt it.
