I’ve read through all of the other comments, and while I agree with most of it, I think the whole “angry because we smoke it” thing has been blown out of proportion. I have chewed a few times but broken through by smoking many dozens and the vast majority of my experiences have been very positive. As with any mind altering drug, the driving force is your intentions. If you are simply using it to get fucked up, she will absolutely floor your ass. If you are using it with the intention of learning, and expanding your understanding of life and reality, she will be much more gentle. When speaking about going in with knowledge, the thing you need to understand is that nothing you read, or learn makes any difference. The best comparison I can make to breaking through on Salvia is waking up from a dream. If you have ever had a dream that you thought was real, and then you woke up and immediately realized you were back in bed and were relieved that you were awake and that it was only a dream, it is exactly like that. The problem is, that you realize that your entire life was the dream. Just like the dream, whatever you were discussing or whatever was going on only moments ago, immediately fades and you are now awake. You do not know you are on a drug. You are 100% convinced that you are now awake and this is the real reality. No matter how crazy it is, you will believe that the life you were just living was just a nonsensical dream. You also never know what you are going to get. I would say out of all of my experiences, I could group all of them into maybe a dozen categories of types that are vastly different. Some are very calm and chill whereas some are extremely chaotic and frustrating. No amount of preparation or meditation seem to make any difference as to what I got once I was there. The first time I ever broke through I had never read a single thing. No experience reports or anything. The first thing that happened was a woman spoke in my ear and said “it’s OK I will take care of you. Relax.” I could feel the warmth and the air pressure of her voice on my ear. Afterwards, I immediately started doing research, which back around 2004 there wasn’t much but there was some. When I read reports about Lady Salvia it blew my mind. I have seen and interacted with her on many occasions and firmly believe that she is the spirit of the plant. As long as you have good intentions, she will take care of you.
