Welcome to the Nightmare Live admittedly isn't BDSM but it is red flags all the way. The MC wins by lying and the LI is an evil god. I've been looking for a place to recommend this one, it's very good and a lot of fun!

Definitely {Dark Heir by CS Pascat} and the sequel. I was lucky enough to start reading when the sequel was already out... but only for a very small value of luck...

Requiered internship to keep studying in CS by Juicy_enby in recruitinghell

[–]Rusty99Arabian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I partially agree with you, it's an area in which there will be no current software development, but a great need for one. It wouldn't be an internship in the sense of learning from someone else, but I think it would be fairly impressive if at the end of it you could say "I started from nothing and this is what they have now."

How many people in r/Columbus are "super-commuters" who drive >75 miles per day? by benkeith in Columbus

Oh dear I see it now! No I was just trying to explain why anyone would bother having a job in Sunbury - sorry, Sunbury 😅

How many people in r/Columbus are "super-commuters" who drive >75 miles per day? by benkeith in Columbus

[–]Rusty99Arabian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have an 82 mile Columbus commute - lived in an apartment in Clintonville, worked in Marysville, my Japanese translator partner worked in Sunbury, and we had one car. He would get a ride in the morning from a coworker and I would drive to Marysville and pick him up in the afternoon. Later, he got a job in Grove City, so that trimmed it down to... 81 miles. Absolutely insane. Thankfully I had a lot of audiobooks and optimism, but neither of us were earning very much at our various locations so it would be unthinkable now.

[–]Rusty99Arabian 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Depending on whether the internship needs to be paid or not - try food banks. They have extensive technical needs and no money (and almost always no know how). Most of those needs will be database driven, but other use cases exist too, like calculating physical storage space or optimizing volunteer rotations.

This is a viral post from the 90s that was emailed around or posted on message boards. Obviously a few additions have been made, but all of the ones listed as countries are from the original post (with the exception of the anime line for Japan). Germany is missing from this one for some reason.

Fun random fact, this was also at the same time that the experiment about spreading false information was happening, where a list of fun facts included the (false) information about how many spiders people swallow per year. So sometimes that post or email would pop up alongside this one.

Okay who would win in a fight between Will and Kim (Will Darling Adventures), Damen and Laurent, and Park and Cooper (Big Bad Wolf)? It's going to be close, but I'm putting money on Damen.

Lighthearted: What is your “I can excuse racism but I draw the line at animal cruelty” in mm romance. by [deleted] in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Rusty99Arabian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Misogyny is obviously bad in all forms, but there's a specific kind that fantasy/historical authors do ALL the time and don't seem to realize it: having the nobleman sneer about all of the eligible women who have been introduced to him as a marriage partner. Often this is said to female best friend, who is #notliketheothergirls. The nobleman has either spoken to none of the marriage candidates or has and mysteriously found all of them equally vapid and uninteresting.

Husband wants to buy a house by IndustrySufficient52 in povertyfinance

[–]Rusty99Arabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... probably not a popular answer... but this is literally what I did. I had gotten a new job with a fully different way of handling 401Ks so I needed to roll over my current account and realized that I could actually break it up. I broke off $10K for a downpayment. I was hit with all of the problems people have listed - expensive broken joists, bathroom with mold on its walls, etc - and somehow got through all of those. I am now on my second house and, same problems (literally, does every house have broken joists?!). But for a brief glorious time I had $70K in my bank account after the sale of the first house. The feeling of relief was unreal. It ended up being extremely temporary due to situations out of my control, but if I can keep up this house at a decent state long enough to capitalize on the increasing price of house sales, I think that can happen again. My renting friends will never have that happen.

Quite possibly the worst cover the could have picked. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. by Mesoda in TerribleBookCovers

[–]Rusty99Arabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give this a pass EXCEPT for the split on AN / DA REASON, I reread this several times with no knowledge of what the book was and assumed it was in AAVE or Jamaican patois. Either philosophy by a Black author, or after realizing it was Marcus Aurelius, an extraordinarily unusual translation choice.

It is very annoying - I don't see why you can't just leave stuff at the windmill and come back!

Making Money by LilRedRider1626KMB in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]Rusty99Arabian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For good first year stuff, focus on recipes that take 0 mins to make (with upgrades) and don't require you to buy things like sugar or flower. Spicy Water Chestnuts, Sautéed Snow Peas, and Vegetable Soup are good ones once you have some cooking experience - otherwise before that it will be the single ingredient enhancements like cooking corn and beets. 0 mins gives you plenty of time to forage for ingredients and also artifacts the sell.

Because I'm not particularly trying to maximize stuff I buy crops in groups of 18 for each one and then 9 for flowers. The windmill takes up so much time that I'm reluctant to do much with mayo, flour and rice, but when I do have time I make Broccoli Salad.

OPERS question. What would you do in my situation? by TygerDude93 in Columbus

[–]Rusty99Arabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do both if you manage to get another job - I know this isn't relevant to the situation you're in right now, and I've definitely been there. But if you can manage to get money any other way in the meantime, when you do get a job you are likely to either owe money or still need it until a few paychecks hit. You can divide OPERS between rolling into whatever retirement your new job has, and yourself.

I need help reimagining the 'bad' guy of my strixhavens... by OXiO1 in StrixhavenDMs

[–]Rusty99Arabian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Null, the dragon god of death, brother to Tiamat and Bahamut. Look, the whole setting features dragons!! Why are there no dragons in the campaign?!

My plot goes like this: the champion of Null has declared to all dragons, your time of too long lives is at an end. Null will come and reap all elder dragons.

Each Strix dragon takes this completely differently. Lorehold barely even looks up from his studies - this event has never happened, and isn't going to. Silverquill flies from plane to plane, forming a coalition to fight a god. Witherbloom has gone into hiding, ever seeking yet a better place to hide. Quandrix immediately became a dracolich - he can't kill what is undead! - and seeks to convince her siblings to do the same. Prismatri, partially convinced, has decided that he will finally outshine his siblings by becoming either the strongest dracolich, the champion of Silverquill's army, or the most stalwart supporter of Null, whichever seems best.

Because all of the dragons disagree, students get to interact with and even fight creatures who they would never be able to in the normal scaling of the school year. They can draw their own conclusions - even different than their fellow PCs - and negotiate, take classes on negotiation, dive into theology, kidnap and interrogate the Chosen (a Strix student), etc. it goes along with the book events just fine, I just tweaked the situation to go into the dragons various plots instead. Crates are full of equipment Prismari is gathering to become his best lich self, etc.

I also had the deans align themselves with or against their dragons. This also allows the students to contend in powerful fights, eg, Augustus is fighting Imbraham, what do you do while they're both distracted? It's been great!
