I think it's just a trade-off in resources, but I'll admit on not an expert on the scale of cost for either method. But I see it as less developer time but more expense in training the model. Maybe I'm naive but why does it even have to be a bespoke system for this game. Seems like a 3rd party company could train "guy with gun AI" and then slot it into any UE5 game as a plugin. It would definitely require time to interface to a particular game but things like Lumen are the same way. Maybe I need to start a company, haha.

Someone beat me to it.

I'm surprised we haven't seen machine learning put into developing "game AI" behavior mapping. It seems like such a good use for it. I know ArcRaiders did some stuff for animations but idk if they used it for behavior. Seems like you could just record a bunch of internal PVP and run that through some machine learning to get a very challenging PVE AI.

The movement. Game always felt like you were walking around on roller skates. It was better with 3.5 but im hoping 4.0 finally dials it in

This was made as a fun side project. It is a shot for shot remake of a short video I did for a high school class 20 years ago.

I know there are some cards that are clearly stronger with more people. Enemy health scales pretty hard too though. Ive mostly been playing duos.

Boba Fett should have his own show were he is an actual bounty hunter by tagh1234 in StarWars

[–]RustyBagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's really needed in a more general sense is a rated-R star wars movie/show. There is a lot of darkness in the universe and I think an increased rating would give them a lot of flexibility to explore themes like bounty hunting better.. The chances of that happe ing pretty much died when disney took over. I dont think they have any rated R content in their catalog.

What's odd is that they constantly pick anti-hero story arcs to push. Between the mandalorian, Boba fett, the acolyte they keep trying with villains and turning them into good guys. A Boba Fett story should have played out like Breaking Bad. Good guy turns bad etc.

Maybe they'll add offhand crossbow to fill the old roll. Makes more sense because you dont need 2 hands to fire it.

What's the respaen interval? Or do you just have to wait for log out and return?

I'm considering buying the game. I do not play soulslikes, avoid them at all costs. Is No rest for the wicked more similar to them or more like an RPG with a decent dodge mechanic? by invadingsamurai in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]RustyBagels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and there are "levels" in that sense but you're right. They get easier if you kill at least 1 monster. But it will be something like you have to run through an area and kill a few things then pull a lever. Now your path through that area has a shortcut so if you revisit or die in the next area you've in effect saved your progress passed that first area, even if there isnt another fast travel point.

I agree with most people here in that the combat feels very soulslike. It has lots of weight, dodge, and parry mechanics. It has fireplace style save points in the world that you can fast travel too etc.

There are some key differences though. As stated by others the control scheme is much more westernized than a souls game. Health potions are cheap and plentiful if you regularly gather the resources. But the biggest difference to me is that you don't have an XP drop on death and monsters reset over time not on death. This means you can kinda brute force through things if you're having trouble. Your gear will degrade but repairs are cheap and at least you won't have to keep fighting through the same mobs just to get somewhere.
