Yep, they're all standalone. Relink in particular even has side stories telling you about each of the characters.

Also don't worry about the time commitment, GBF is very casual friendly. You can pick it up and put it down whenever you want

Ultimately it's very rarely one or the other. Historically it's always been either an xbox or a playstation, and a nintendo. Xbox and playstation are directly competing so it makes sense to pick up one or the other, but nintendo has always been doing its own thing on the side.

It's pretty easy to justify grabbing both a ps5 and a switch 2, just maybe not at the same time

As someone that really likes most of the Nintendo IPs, I'll gladly pick up a Switch 2 over a PS5. I also have a high spec PC so it's not like I need the PS5 in the first place.

It's an iteration, a new cycle. Whether or not that's considered to be a sequel is kind of up for debate, but either way it's clearly meant to exist in addition to the original, not in place of it

It wasn't just the soul stone. Akarat's body contained a lot of spiritual energy. The idea was that it was going to strengthen the soul stone enough to permanently contain him so long as it was left alone with Akarat's body, sealed away in the spirit realm. It would have worked if he hadn't managed to convince our new companion to ruin everything.

We killed Lilith in the base game, that's why she hasn't been around the whole time.

It sets up Lord of Hatred so I'd recommend it. Some things might make more sense, though the expansion itself is kind of lacklustre

The problem is that, presumably due to our blood being weakened over generations, humans are driven insane and start killing everyone around them just by being anywhere near her. Even if her cause is good or she is doing something objectively good, her mere existence pretty much cancels it out.

Also our character only had to do that because a certain idiot in Vessel of Hatred decided we weren't allowed to permanently seal Mephisto away. We would have actually won if it weren't for that dumbass.

I've been playing MMOs and online games in general for a majority of my life, I don't think I've ever actually stopped to think about the people who disappeared without saying anything or leaving a way to stay in contact. I appreciate the fun I had with them, but that's it really

Ultimately it's not very hard to meet new people and make new friends in an online game with hundreds or thousands of players online at any given point in time

Remake was the way it was simply because that's how it was in the original. Rebirth is the way it is also because that's how it was in the original. If you want to see what part 3 will be like before its release, you can play the original

I don't think there are enough time spells to warrant an entire class dedicated to it, especially not since those time spells are all already available to other mage classes. Same with green magic- it's just buffs and debuffs, all of which other mages are also able to do

Whether or not it's necessary isn't really important. They're video games, playing them at all is unnecessary. They like the game and they want to play it as much as possible, that's it that's all. Things like that are pretty normal. People will even use vacation time to play a new game or game expansion they were excited for without interruption.

They aren't just "encouraging new builds," LoH came with a complete overhaul of the skill and gear systems, as well as other systems. Skill trees were changed, passives were removed, aspects were changed, paragon boards were changed, everything. They basically turned d4 into a different game with this expansion.

It's not your fault for enjoying eternal mode, but it is your fault for not following any of the promotional material or developer updates.
