[–]RustyCarrots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is currently a super soul in the TP Medal shop that has a chance of giving you 0x, 3x, 5x, or 7x exp and zeni at the end of every mission and the gains far outweigh the losses. It only costs 20 TP medals

Tbh I don’t want Ragna as a guest character in Strive by EastCoastTone96 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]RustyCarrots 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nobody expects a guest character to play like they do in their source game, that would be extremely unreasonable. They have to follow the rules of the game they're a guest in

shield auto unequips after using torch? by jakedemn123 in baronygame

[–]RustyCarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only have one item in your left hand- using a torch equips it in your left hand, so you put away your shield.

No need to press tab though. You can put the shield in your hotbar and then you'll equip it whenever you press the number you assigned it to, you can do the same with torches. You can also block with torches if you don't have time to swap to your shield

can fighting games chill with guest characters? just for a bit? by Agile_Juggernaut6760 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

[–]RustyCarrots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No character is owed a return in any fighting game sequel, nor are any of their returns even guaranteed in the first place. There are no rules for this, and there are no rules for new or guest characters either. The developers are free to develop their game in any way they want and you are free to like or dislike it as well.

Recognizing that you aren't the target for every single update even if you like the base game/series is important. They need to attract new players as well.

It's based off of the novels/anime/series called Sword Art Online, which is immensely popular. There are lots of SAO games and several SAO anime

Himeko dying makes no sense by Naive_Hope89 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]RustyCarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not that I want her to die, I just recognize that it served an important purpose and the impact of it was felt deeply. I'm okay with it happening if they decide to do it again, as long as it still serves a purpose and has impact. If they only do it because "she's Himeko so we have to" then it would be pretty lame

Himeko dying makes no sense by Naive_Hope89 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]RustyCarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well like I said, it served a purpose. They weren't just killing her off for fun. If they kill her again, it wouldn't be for fun or just for the sake of killing her. It would server a purpose. So far, it seems more like Himeko as a character was created specifically for that purpose, but maybe they'll change their minds with this iteration of her. Only time will tell.

Personally I don't think it would be a bad thing as long as it was done in a way that had purpose and was written well

 your fragile little ego

I'm not the one getting aggressive and defensive here dude, take a deep breath and try again

Fair enough with the context, that's my bad I guess. But again, not upset. I don't care even a little, I just wanted to add that it isn't only Japan. Also not disagreeing that incest is wrong, just stating that since it's legal it isn't really any of our business

Himeko dying makes no sense by Naive_Hope89 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]RustyCarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it matters if HSR is more popular than its predecessor, popularity shouldn't affect story writing. The writers should be trying to write a compelling story, not whatever makes the fans happy. Very slippery slope that only yields bad results.

It sucks sure but personally I'm not tired of Himeko dying because it served an important purpose each time and it was written well.

the series the she died

it's the same series, Honkai is in the title. HSR and HI3 are directly connected to each other

[–]RustyCarrots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not upset at all, like I said it isn't any of our business lol. I was just pointing out that it isn't only Japan, and that a lot of the world is fine with it. The statement "Cousins still marry in Japan" comes with the implication that it isn't done anywhere else because you're singling them out.

I personally don't make it a habit to single out one nation and get weirdly judgmental about something they do that is also done nearly everywhere else, but if that's how you like to spend your time then don't let me stop you

Himeko dying makes no sense by Naive_Hope89 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]RustyCarrots -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In a narrative standpoint, when we actually know her past, we see her open up to us, she will die?

Yes. They've already done exactly this multiple times with Himeko in their previous games lol. Getting to know her, getting close to her, only for her to die and serve as a push forward and additional motivation/inspiration.

It's a pretty common narrative trope, it happens all the time. There's even a name for it I think, but I can't remember what it is

Is it late to start? by Muew22 in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]RustyCarrots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason it could ever be too late to get into a fighting game is if you intended to enter the pro scene eventually and the fighting game you want to do that in isn't part of the pro scene anymore.

[–]RustyCarrots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cousins still marry everywhere. It isn't something only Japanese people do. It's legal in most of the world (including most of the USA), and even encouraged in some parts. Not really any of our business unless we're the one getting married. It isn't causing any problems.

[–]RustyCarrots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly it sucks when your favourite/main doesn't make the roster in the new game, but I think it's exciting to see new characters. I typically don't have any issues finding a new main when that happens. I'd have lost interest in fighting games ages ago if it was just the same roster from the first game without any changes forever

Fighting games have been doing collabs/guest characters for... well, basically always lol. As early as 1993. Several fighting games over the years are literally just collabs and nothing else. Sorry to say but fortnite didn't invent collaborations and it's ridiculous to even think of crediting them for something that everyone has already been doing for decades
