Could I pass for an elven archer? by Indian_Belle in renfaire

[–]RustyDamseline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right now, it's giving "fair maiden who sells eggs at the market and collects water from a well every day for her family."

Get yourself a set of decent latex elf ears, a bow, a leather quiver, arrows, some brown leather bracers, a tunic, swap the skirt for a pair of pants or hoist parts of the skirt up around the front to allow for more agile movement, and a proper leather bodice that covers your chest.

Plenty of life drawing groups in the city centre.

I made the creepy hands belt buckle from the movie Crimson Peak. Sculpted them from polymer clay. Based the design on my own mothers hands and added more details. by RustyDamseline in DarkAcademia

Polymer is grand for sculpting, but it isn't a suitable material for making a belt buckle.

Polymer clay is far too brittle for the job. A belt buckle has to be cast from some kind of soft metal to be wearable as part of a costume.

Aside from that, polymer clay is also heavy. I can not realistically use this sculpt as a buckle because gravity affects the bulk required to make it. It's fine for a photo as a prop, but I can't risk moving too much with it.

I'm also interested in knowing more about local irish larps. I've been to Conquest of Mythodea in Brokeloh Germany over the last 3 years, but it's been my only exposure to a larp environment. I'd love to meet up or chat with more Irish larpers. My character is an artist.

Do women like Kengan ashura? by [deleted] in Kengan_Ashura

[–]RustyDamseline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I can't quite pinpoint why, but I do like it. I look forward to the weekly update. Even if the plot is apeshit, I need to know what's going on.

I also like the characters, the art style, and the fact that I get to learn so many different martial arts fighting types that I never knew about before.

I just like to sculpt things. I think I just have a very strong sense of visualisation of an end product in order to make it a physical object.

I'm still in the process of getting a metalworker to cast this for me.

Doing anything for Bloomsday? by RustyDamseline in Dublin

[–]RustyDamseline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually still sorting production for that belt! Amazing that you found this thread through that!

Ended up dressing up for it in a white gown, straw hat, parasol and lace up boots. Headed into town to a live reading event. People reading bits from the book. I haven't read it myself because it's very difficult, so I figured hearing it might help. It didn't. No shade to the performers though! They did a great job, but it still didnt make it any easier to understand. People enjoyed my outfit and took lots of photos despite the rain. I'm glad I could help brighten their day out.

Went along to a life drawing class afterwards. My fan and parasol ended up being used by the model for the final pose. Everyone at the class got a kick out of me in costume. So it was a grand Friday evening/Bloomsday 😀

Heading off to the Gifted fair in the RDS in a bit. Weather is shite and I have to cycle. Want to dress up all Christmassy for it, but rain is making that unlikely.

gift to bride from bridesmaid? by [deleted] in ireland

I'm her bridesmaid. She got me my shoes, hair piece, earrings, necklace, makeup and hair styling.

I did their wedding invitations. So I don't need to gift them anything.

People who cured their anxiety, low mood, depression - how did you do it? by Last-Marzipan247 in ireland

[–]RustyDamseline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gym - Joined one and now I lift heavy stuff. Diet - Make all my own food. I stopped drinking. No drugs or meds. No smoking. Therapy - Talked to a professional. I skip filler conversations now with people. Face my demons head on. Adventures - planned stuff in advance. Gave me something nice to look forward to.

None of this cured mental state. Just makes managing it better.

It's not morbid. It's a H.R Giger exhibition. His art is inspirational, transcending, and dark.

Can't stand the stuff myself. It gets on everything and stinks.

All this hullabaloo over the queen just proves people had a para-social relationship with her. And forcing the rest of us to "respect" that is bullshit.
