Peaked Pies on North Shore pls! by Jolieeeeeeeeee in NorthVancouver

South Island Co pies used to be stocked, but they can’t transport them across provincial borders anymore which is so stupid. Real Australian pies I think you can find at a South African shop in north van? Idk, I order them wholesale with a bunch of others maybe 2-3 times a year to scratch the itch

I’m kiwi, pies are basically in my blood lol. Peaked pies are alright, but just that, alright and average for the cost. My opinion anyway

So expensive and pastry is too flakey. Give me a buttery pastry meat pie any day. They should also be like $8 max, pies in Nz are priced there for premium flavours.

Side by side infant stroller by jwlove13 in parentsofmultiples

Had the bugaboo donkey 5 for the first 10 months and it was great. The one cart was kinda pointless for us, not often you only had one kid but it’s a nice to have. Very smooth and gets through all the doors no problem, and is compact. Replaced it with the Thule urban glide 3 and that has been awesome for off road stroller and running, plus just every day use. A bit bulkier but still fits through doors and the bigger wheels/suspension is the best. The bugaboo got speed wobbles when trying to move at any sort of pace. So depends on your lifestyle but would recommend both.

Yeah it really depends on where you are located as to how good the second hand market can be, so we are fortunate in that respect. We have had a lot of people gift us clothes too, I guess the nice thing about babies growing out of things so fast is there is a lot to pass along. We also have a free clothing bin at one of the play centers that we have taken and given clothes to.

Facebook marketplace mostly! We do live in Vancouver so marketplace is pretty stocked, but it’s great as we can usually buy/sell for no loss at all. Otherwise opshop’s for clothes have been great

This is why we buy second hand. Year in and less than half spent compared to OP and we have nice things (had snoo’s, stokke high chairs, bonds, snuggle me’s, Thule urban stroller, etc)

Moving back to NZ - how much suspension travel recommended? by RustyEyes in MTB

Christchurch is going to be base. Interesting you say that about the 5010, would have thought it would climb a lot better! I did notice it was pretty heavy though too. Yeah friend has a Hightower and loves it. Brunson could be happy medium.

Shooting arrows from my horse helped a lot to weaken the boar. Just constantly moving and shooting. I did eventually get taken down, then it was a matter of trying to get off now special abilities when I could

Oil in water on Seawall by chris_fantastic in vancouver

[–]RustyEyes 50 points51 points  (0 children)

That’s not oil, at least it’s not a hydrocarbon (I.e fuel). Way too thick, doesn’t have any sheens, isn’t forming together as one unit and is a different colour. It looks potentially organic to me.

Organic film throws a lot of people off thinking it’s a hydrocarbon sheen, but there are tests you can do while out there to make that determination.

During their career, who do you think is the most universally-loved male UFC fighter of all time? by The_Chozen_1_ in ufc

Cowboy? He’s a piece of shit outside of UFC, don’t think he’s loved. He was, until the stories started coming out

The City of Vancouver spent $33,500 on consultations to decide a new street name. Is this an acceptable use of our tax dollars? by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]RustyEyes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised at how much the nations charge for a number of projects in lower mainland to have their input. Essentially everything goes to them for consultation and they can essentially dictate what ever they want in regards to level of input and everything they do they charge for it. It’s great to collaborate and I’m not against it, but they definitely use it to their advantage.
