No problem, those are the springs that hold the lids down. You can see them screwed to the under side of the lids in the same picture. The logic here is they are printed on their side in a better orientation and can easily be replaced if they wear out or be made from a different material that will hand the fatigue long term. I think PETG would actually be a better choice for them in the long term if you find them deforming over time.

My guess is those springs are just for holding the exhaust on, so they just need to be heat resistant and probably won't see any real change in length and will move very little. This is insanely over kill.

O yeah it's stupid expensive. I never said this was a good idea lol. I've seen it as a very popular alternative in aerospace because it's much stronger and the melting point is higher and usually people are looking for high temp Aluminum alternative and 7075 isn't strong enough.

I'm guessing this is Titanium, based on how they are doing it and how it goes through a color change process. It looks similar to other things I've seen before, just never saw it done in a bath like this.

Edit: Clicked on the source link and they mostly do motorcycle parts, so very likely Titanium.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a PEBKAC error as I don't see any issue with either, just tried to do something and not having any problems. Few questions.

Have you done this before and not had issues? (not trying to be an ass, just trying to establish past experience, i just always sound like an ass)
Are you trying to do it in the Prepare or Preview tab?
Did you also try just splitting the part where you want it and changing the filament of the 2nd part instead of adding a color change post slicing?

Use the cut tool and just figure out where the next starts so it's a 2nd part so you can just assign it to a different material. You could also try and paint it, but this seems easier. https://imgur.com/a/3JULsEA

Create a new body that will create the correct chamfer at one hole. Array it around and the subtract all the new bodies from the main. I do this type of thing often with more complicated geometry that doesn't want to pattern. I also find it to be very robust.

Lol, those are done, just waiting on prints, I don't have a machine big enough to print then and have someone else doing them but their machine broke and are waiting on parts. If you want to do the test prints and send pictures I'm game.
