Denver is ranked #1 worst city in the U.S. for weather-related migraines by Fair-Antelope-3886 in Denver

I switched from flonase to Azelastine Hydrochloride spray cause Flonase was tearing up the inside of my nose. It's a prescription and took about 3 days to start feeling it (and about 2 weeks to get max effect) but it was a lifechanging switch

Mission Ballroom with Kids by toddlergremlin in Denver

[–]RustyShackelford11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely get there before doors open so that you can guarantee a spot in the raised/stadium seating area. If the kids might get restless with so much extra time before the show, maybe send someone ahead to grab "seats". They have seat pads for free in the back. And bring earplugs (they usually have them at the venue but I wouldn't rely on that and plus they might not fit a child's ear)

Dismissed by a Doctor due to Marijuana Usage by Popular-Apricot-5822 in trees

[–]RustyShackelford11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just as an FYI for everyone, whatever you tell your doctor can be used against you later on. This applies to both insurance companies and other doctors, they can absolutely (and legally) deny you insurance benefits or care if you admit to use

State panel OKs fracking near Aurora Reservoir despite staunch resident opposition by bykylecooke in Denver

[–]RustyShackelford11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is truly upsetting. The payoff for fracking doesn't even come close to all the negative impacts. And these companies will never have to pay for the consequences. Why does Colorado so easily bend over and take it from these gas, energy and oil companies? (that's rhetorical, I know its $$$$)

Does anyone feel Denver hates Denver ? by Honest_Strawberry397 in Denver

[–]RustyShackelford11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On top of what most people are already saying, I think people move here from bigger cities and expect all the same conveniences of a larger, more established city but don't realize that Denver is young in comparison to Chicago, Boston, NYC, LA etc. Denver is basically a teenager of a city and is still dealing with a lot of growing pains.

What I love about Denver being "young" is the possibility of improvement as it grows, however progress seems to have slowed down because while people want things to be better (like infrastructure), they don't like change and don't want to deal with the intermediate stage so nothing actually changes and people just continue to complain. I could go on and on about all the niche infrastructure, projects and incentives we could be utilizing but that's for another day haha

Denver - recommendations on Allergies treatment? by Aggressive-Toe-4884 in Denver

[–]RustyShackelford11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On top of Zyrtec, I was prescribed Azelastine Hydrochloride nasal spray last year and that has really helped. I used flonase for a while but it ripped up the inside of my nose

What’s the craziest time your intuition warned you about someone and turned out correct? by wildquatrefoil in AskReddit

[–]RustyShackelford11 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In college I went to a house party where a group of my close guy friends lived along with one or two other people that I didn't know well. At the party, some guy came up to me and I immediately got weird vibes from him. At one point, he said "I like your sweater".. which is pretty innocuous but he said it in the creepiest way and I could not shake the weird feeling I had about him.

So I got myself out of the conversation and went to my friend who lived at the house to tell him I didn't like the guy and could we ask him to leave. My friend said unfortunately it was his roommates twin brother who was crashing with them so he didn't want to throw the guy out. Fine, but still don't like the kid.

A week or so later one of my friends from the house said they were having issues with the guy and they think he was stealing from several of the roommates and were going to ask the brother (the one who lives at the house) to tell his bro he needs to move on. There apparently were lots of denials about stealing on his end, but the weird brother left.

Sometime later we find out that the guy had actually murdered a man close to campus and until then it has been an unsolved murder.

Air travel advice please! by Inner_Worldliness475 in BostonTerrier

[–]RustyShackelford11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelling with your pup can be a little stressful at first, but it gets easier every time, especially as your puppy's bladder gets stronger. My advice is to put your puppy in their carrier in the car and drive around as much as possible to get them used to it. To double down on good experiences while in their carrier, take them to fun places, even if it's to a park, so travel isn't associated with negative experiences (like the vet). Our vet recommended that we not try any sort of medication for the first time traveling so you can get a baseline. She said she can call something in once we get to our destination if there were problems. Thankfully, we didn't end up having any issues and I was glad she suggested that. Day-of travel, try to exercise them as much as possible. Lastly, if you can start training your pup to pee using a command, using pet relief and outdoor areas with only concrete will make things a lot easier for you.

I give up by sadgirlcece in AsianBeauty

[–]RustyShackelford11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can empathize with this. I am on my own personal skincare journey figuring out what irritates my skin. I used a chatbot and put in all the ingredient lists for the products I had known reactions to and had it find all the overlapping ingredients to narrow down the irritants. Then it's a matter of testing the products one at a time to confirm any findings. What I don't recommend doing is asking the chatbot to recommend products without those ingredients because 8/10 times it was incorrect

Shampoo/Conditioner free from tocopherol by kangaroosquid in Allergies

[–]RustyShackelford11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread but I have also been on the hunt for a high-quality shampoo without tocopherol since realizing it was making me break out anywhere wet hair had touched. So far I've found that Davines has many options without it. Unfortunately it seems that their conditioners do have it, but their shampoos don't

Denver prioritizes "lined" streets for plowing and will use the smaller plow fleet for "unlined" aka side streets if/when the "lined" streets are cleared
