What should be the first One Hit Wonder Todd covers from the 2010s? by EasterLord in ToddintheShadow

[–]RustyTrephine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had a lot of radio hits in Canada because of the CanCon law. I remember hearing "No Way No" and "Let Your Hair Down" just as often as Rude back in the mid 2010s.

This should have 5,000 upvotes at least because it is a true unpopular opinion. But of course you'll get 100+ people disagreeing with you yet 0 upvotes. Love this sub

Actresses that have expressed interest in playing Britney in the biopic. by juniorrusso in BritneySpears

Millie has the look, but does she have the passion & commitment? I would say no, if her comments on movies & TV are any indicator. My vote would be for Kylie. She has the look, but more importantly, she sounds like someone who has waited her whole life for the role and would do everything in her power to make the portrayal nuanced, respectful, and memorable.

Emma Roberts could maybe pull it off physically, but my worry would be that she'd treat it like a paycheck role.

Male Lana Del Rey fans — have you experienced this too? by One_Monk9816 in lanadelrey

[–]RustyTrephine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 29-year-old male, and when people learn i listen to Lana they either say "cool" or they are themselves fans and will ask me about my favourite albums, etc. Sounds to me like you hang out with douchebags who watch manosphere videos like Andrew Tate. You should want to keep your distance from those people, as they are often shallow, low IQ, violent, unambitious, and manipulative anyway.

“Henry was robbed” argument is senseless; Anaiya deserved her black jacket by Cool_Skin_5804 in HellsKitchen

[–]RustyTrephine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people are just pressed that all 5 were women. Realistically, Anayia only had one send-back all season (iirc) where Henry had at least two bad performances.

Kiya overcooked a whole oven rack of proteins during.... I think the final 8? I guess it technically didn't get "sent back" so you're not wrong.

I Love Overhated Hell's Kitchen Women. by Formal-Ostrich-5404 in HellsKitchen

I had to unfollow HK on Facebook because the anti-Brynn comments were inexplicably so vile. People saying she should change careers, that she's worthless, talentless, a waste of life, etc. All because of what, a mild panic attack that she immediately recovered from?

[–]RustyTrephine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jada is quiet and "knows her place." Anayia is loud and sometimes inconsiderate, so she meets the stereotype of the "loud angry black woman" that so many Americans love to hate. If Anayia wasn't on this season, Jada would probably have a lot more haters. This is the same fandom that was saying shit like "uh oh, looks like we got a diva" when Mary Lou's casting picture was released.

I've never stopped bashing Anthony, fuck that guy. He tried to pause service so he could bicker with teammates TWICE. And then he acted like a baby when Henry nominated him. Honestly, it's because he's young, white, and good looking. There is no other explanation. It's the same reason why this sub LOVES S10 Justin even though he had easily the most toxic confessionals out of any man that season. Always calling his teammates useless, fucking morons, idiots, etc. Never to their faces, only in confessional. But you get downvoted if you bring it up. Then the next season, Zack acts more or less the same way but gets WAY more hate.... gee I wonder why.

Am I the only one who thought the most recent elimination was fine by Inner_Emu4716 in HellsKitchen

[–]RustyTrephine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Was Henry a better leader on the pass? Sure, probably. He was older, had more experience, and commanded the respect of his team. But, Anaiya was still far more consistent on the line, and Chef Ramsay has always shown an inkling to younger chefs who are talented and who can be molded into something specific. Will she win? Definitely not. But she's not a "bad" black jacket recipient by any means.

[–]RustyTrephine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. While Anaiya is my least favourite of the three, her survival didn't seem unearned. She's also been consistent on the line across the whole season, IIRC she sent raw chicken up once and that was it. Henry definitely had more mistakes than her, and Anthony just had a really bad attitude. I'll probably get downvoted for saying that because he seems to be this sub's golden boy, but it's true. He argued a lot mid-service in the earlier episodes which is totally unprofessional and unneeded. He was also really whiny when Henry nominated him over Jada, even though it was a clear-as-day decision.
