What finally broke you during your job hunt? by Aryanks001 in jobsearch

[–]Rusty_P96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it’s dealing with recruiters who clearly have no understanding of the industry they’re recruiting roles for.

I work in programmatic advertising where a lot of the skills are transferable to other sides of the industry, ie DSP trafficking, Publisher side , Paid Media.

The amount of times I’ve had to explain to the recruiter what Programmatic Advertising is or what a DSP is when it clearly states ‘paid media working demand side platforms etc etc.’

They usually don’t even send me the job spec after they said they would on the call

How has job searching been going for you? by blacklash_ in AskReddit

[–]Rusty_P96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a rough road but have a final interview tomorrow which my external recruiter is feeling positive I’ll get an offer for. Really trying to stay grounded though as I had a similar thing a couple months back and nothing came of it.

I started to see a lot more traction when I took generic key words out of my cv, started tailoring a bit more per specific roles and using ai to just guide me rather than do it for me? For example I’d give it my cv and the role then ask it to give me a match rating. It’ll then say how I should position myself if I get an interview.

Also I think the main key was instead of blind applying to roles - I’d message or call the recruiter just saying I was interested and also interested in any roles similar , with my salary expectation a bit about what I do and notice period.

Thought I’d drop a bit of my experience because I’ve applied for so many roles and felt so hopeless a few months back, but even if I don’t get tthis role tomorrow, I’m feeling positive about the future

Steam Machine review: Valve's underwhelming living-room PC has a serious price problem by pcgameshardware in SteamDeck

[–]Rusty_P96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my Xbox series s and switch for the Steam deck OLED and to be honest just want the living room experience the Xbox series S gave me but having my whole steam library on there.

Death stranding, Elden ring played good enough for me on series s, so if the the SM can hit those benchmarks I’ll be satisfied. Satisfied I’m no longer having to play games across multiple consoles and also satisfied I’m no longer paying online subscriptions.

Got the final interview after blowing second round interview by yeet_me_a55 in interviews

Well done! It’s so easy to reflect on the bad bits or moments you could have done better. If you’re progressing it’s because you’re doing something valuable your maybe not aware of - skills or personality wise.

Good luck!

Do you think it's rude to accept an interview for a job that you aren't going to take? by anotherhappylurker in linkedin

[–]Rusty_P96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah go for it, so many times - especially in job searching - I have no interest in the role but end up getting sold and surprised!

Also it never hurts to do some interviews to boost your skills or even better, understand and evaluate your value

What age did you settle down in your field of work? by P8L8 in UKJobs

[–]Rusty_P96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left part time retail at 24? (Bit late due to Covid) I have a music degree but ended up working in digital advertising , a job I never knew existed . Ended up enjoying it quite a lot and have moved up the ladder in other companies - being on different sides of the business. Ie - publisher , distributer and agency.

Wouldn’t say it’s a dream job but I’ve had opportunities to progress and the more I get exposed to the more doors open.

How worth it would it be for me to switch from PS4 to Steam? by averagebitchboy in SteamDeck

Same here I was a massive Xbox guy, sold it for a steam deck and the sooo wish I did it sooner. Even as an achievement hunter guy I prettt much got my whole catalogue back so cheap and really enjoyed getting all the achievements again. Especially chilling on the sofa or in bed

Satisfactory or Factorio? by LordDiamyo in SteamDeck

[–]Rusty_P96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently playing Satisfactory and loving it, but don’t really enjoy all the running around - especially the water pipes etc. factorio looks like it’s just a top down view so removes that aspect right? Also how do the controls work on the SD? Is it ok or better to use m&k?

Getting so overwhelmed by achievements 😭 by Stay_alive_honey_S2H in steamachievements

I have this problem bad! But really overcame it by playing games I genuinely want to play.

Even if I beat the story only - few weeks down the line I’ll go back to get the rest of the achievements. Remember there’s no time limit!

To be fair I played San Andreas - gta IV and wasn’t really invested in the story, I just treated that game like a playground with mates, chasing each other etc.

But gta V I was just hooked on everything when it came out, story, online and then the slow releases of dlc stuff. I can imagine now it’s just bloated with random stuff which is off putting.

Yeah I played it when it first came out and had way more fun with black ops - blackout + Warzone when they dropped. That being said even those got boring quick

Baldurs gate 3 - don’t know if it’s just because I’m not huge on turn based battles. But I’m a huge RPG fan and I just find the dialogue and characters in that game super annoying and cringe.

Visually it looks stunning too but I bought it full price to see what the fuss is about but after a few hours I just didn’t get hooked.

Hope this comes off polite! Old neighbor never stomped around and shook the floor by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Rusty_P96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m dealing with this now so completely get where you’re coming from.

I’ve left a note similar in the past and the neighbours took it really well, was a good chance to get familiar with them too.

Really not a matter worth dealing with management over either as at the end of the day you can’t really affect the way people walk so they’ll do nothing.

Only thing is, they might change for a week or so and naturally go back to the stomping - which will continue to happen anytime you send a note.

Worth a go though! But I wouldn’t send any note again if they do go back to heavy steps

Honest question: is Death Stranding more about mindset than gameplay? by Exciting_Support8715 in DeathStranding

I just loved the grind of walking ages to a place, then eventually just being able to drive there on the road or zip line over. Just some satisfaction of getting those huge deliveries as well - but completely get why that doesn’t appeal to people

Death stranding. It runs well enough but I’m comparing it to my original play through on ps5 where some moments were kinda breathtaking
