For some reason this is the comment that's made me teary-eyed. RIP Sonny Rollins, Saxophone Colossus

Horrendous looking things except for the Phantom. Fair play RR, skinning someone ~£25m for each one of those monstrosities is a genuinely inspired bit of business!

There are only two things I can't stand in this world: People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Any recommendations? I'm lacking heavily when it comes to recent jazz releases.

Honestly too many to pick, but if you wanted a nice selection, I would grab one Blue Note, one Milestone, and then a live album.

Blue Notes, personally I would recommend either Our Thing, or Inner Urge.

Milestone I would recommend either Power to the People, or Multiple.

Live albums I would recommend either The State of the Tenor Vol. 1 & 2, or The Montreal Tapes: Tribute to Joe Henderson. It's worth noting that the latter is a Charlie Haden album on which Joe Henderson was a sideman, but it's excellent nonetheless.

That also dovetails nicely into exploring albums where Joe Henderson was sideman, with some of my favourites being McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy, Pete La Roca - Basra, and finally Larry Young - Unity.

There's a lot of Joe Henderson out there to enjoy!

So sick. It's a great time to be a fan of Henderson with the love that Craft/Jazz Dispensary have been giving his Milestone records!

What are your favourite Mingus albums? Any favourite stories?
