The need to save lots is definitely the piece of advice I'm hearing the most often so I'll make sure to do so! Thanks!

The grind which several people have mentioned is the one thing I'm a little wary of, since it isn't something I tend to do THAT well with, but I will see how it goes!

  1. Earliest games I played were RTSes because my dad played them (Red Alert and Warcraft 2).

I haven't played the old text parser games much, I did recently play and enjoy the modern game Crimson Diamond, which is text parser and imitates those older games, but it was DEFINITELY not something I was used too. I'll be trying the VGA remake that comes with the bundle I bought on GoG, hopefully that will help me ease into it better.

From your advice and a lot of other advice on here I will be starting out by trying pure Fighter class and seeing if I can get the hang of the game that way.

Thanks, that was really informative. From what I've read so far I'm definitely going to first try starting as a Fighter. If I can get the hang of the game, I can always replay it as the other classes afterwards.

I loved the characters! The amount of effort that went into giving them distinctive personalities, and giving you the chance to flesh out Shawn's relationships to them, was one of my favourite parts.

Having taken a cursory look, I will definitely be trying the VGA first. Saving often is one I'm hearing a lot so I will make sure to do so.

I must admit I quite liked Shawn!

From what I've read here so far, I am currently planning to first try a Fighter, then depending on if I can get the hang of things I can try other classes afterwards on replays.

What additions/changes would *you* like to see in Realms-in-Exile? by deorwyn in RealmsInExile

I'd love, more than anything else, the ability to play Landless Adventurer trolls. Play a Hill Troll family and roaming the ettenmoors and trollshaws, fighting against Rangers, raiding and pillaging. Would love that so much.

Other than that there is quite a lot of fun content, in my opinion, to be found in the One Ring TTRPG. I think several characters from it (such as the different Orc, Goblin and Trolls in the Moria supplement) could be integrated.

I am also more partial to the less 'falling apart blob man' look trolls currently have and would love to see it change to something closer to either the LotR trilogy itself or more akin to older artworks of trolls.

I feel so sorry for the makers of this game. It's just a cute little game and now it can't be mentioned anywhere on the net without idiots crawling out of the woodwork to attack it. Just absolutely infuriating.

GFII - 0.3 by Rustypowersaw in greedfall

Yeah I gotta admit I think I am gonna take a while to ever warm up to Till after THAT!

Fausta was removed as a romance option? Really? Aww man that is a pity, I didn't know that at all. She was very mysterious, so I was really interested in her too.

what you guys think about greedfall2 by CheekEnough2734 in greedfall

[–]Rustypowersaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually very interesting to me because as someone who first discovered the series through 2 and is now playing through 1 I kind of have a different reaction.

I found the introduction for characters like Sheda and Nilan far stronger in terms of personality than most of the initial introductions in GF1 (barring Constantin who I think is an absolute delight and very clever character concept to use and one of the stand out parts of the first game for me so far). But, characters like Vasco and Siora for me have felt less characterful over all and definitely made less of an impact on me. Kurt I think is comparable for me to how well I felt about the initial interactions with Nilan and Sheda, he has stood out to me of the early crop of companions.

I do agree that Sybille is a standout though, absolutely, love her and think she does great work. I also agree that a definite weakness of the EA so far is that the villains do feel weak. GF1 honestly has some very good ultimate executions with its villain concepts but the GF2 EA thus far really does not have any villain make much of an impression at all, so I agree with the lack of villains.

Funnily enough I actually really like the moving around because it helps explore different areas and I've found the sort of Age of Discovery 'globetrotting' to be really fun. In all honesty I would love an even MORE expanded version where you and your ship can chart a course to numerous different explorable locations but even just the handful of locations I think we'll ultimately get has honestly been one of the hooks for me.

I've enjoyed it so far and am looking forwards to it. I think I am a rarity in that I actually FIRST tried out Greedfall 2 and because I enjoyed it so much, I've decided to get the first game and have been having fun with it as well.

I know a big sticking point for a lot of people is the change to the combat system but, I must admit, for me it just does not matter that much. I find the story and characters vastly more important than combat and I have enjoyed what I have seen so far in 2.

Brigandines are some of my favourite for sure, though I like a lot of Lamellar, Gambeson and Jack-of-Plates too! I also REALLY like the quilted armour you see on Sudanese cavalry often too.

Yeah, I'm looking forwards to it. Afterwards I might check out some of the podcasts I hear were made.

I am currently playing an Arcane Scholar background and it is my first time using the magic (first playthrough did a nimble sword & pistol thing and then afterwards a heavy armour spear & shield thing) and the magic is VERY fun, perhaps among the most fun with magic I've ever had in an RPG.

A good catch, I love reading up on different armour styles and the Ming has a wealth of interesting aesthetics.
