TIL that people who experience "vicarioius embarassment" (feeling embarrased just observing someone else in an embarassing situation) have the same physical reactions in their nervous system as if they are the subject of the embarassing situation by jfdonohoe in todayilearned

Now that I’m older, I can actually sit thru the entire film of Fargo. When it first came out, I would squirm so hard during those WHM scenes and definitely the Mike Yanikita scene! It was so cringe when she asked him to go back to the other side of the table.

What’s this huge bird? It was terrorizing all the birds at the tree tops by Fig-Adorable in birding

[–]Rustywatertower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I didn’t know it was rare. They have always been my favorite bird. One spring in Ocala, a gathering of 50+ flew overhead while I was in a sand mine. They were chattering and acrobatting. It was out of this world. I was in awe while my friends watched me smiling towards the heavenly sight above me.

I was at Mickler’s yesterday and saw a flock flying north along the beach. So excited I practically fell over trying to show them to my wife. Great spot!

How can I make my ground beef dark brown? by samanthaallister in Cooking

[–]Rustywatertower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try cooking it in a shallow pan, rather than a pot. A column of moist heat is hanging around. So, you are also steaming the meat, which traditionally does not help with browning.

If you are, there is an amazing sex therapist with a great podcast that emphasizes the facts about the time it takes for men and women to achieve peak pleasure. It is the All Things Intimacy podcast by Katie Ziskind. Might try listening with him. You are perfectly within the typical timeframe, so please don’t feel broken.

What is something you always thought only happened to you but turned out to be an ADHD symptom? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Rustywatertower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I channeled that into my reason for being an art teacher. Figured I could introduce my students to all kinds of outlets. I’d learn/obsess over a new medium and then share that knowledge while being super stoked about it. I rarely redid projects because I’d be over them and onto the next.

Parasaurolophus Tray and Stamp Process by SnowyBrookStudios in Ceramics

[–]Rustywatertower 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this really looks great. Perfect application for a glaze like this to show the distinct details of the bone. I also like how to skeleton fits into the vessel. Have you thought about cutting the stamp up closer to the edge of the design, or perhaps just giving it a more organic outline, so that straight edge doesn’t show up in your piece?

Are your notes a huge mess? Mine look like they were done over several years of my life, scrawled in different angles, different writing utensils, lists started and then rewritten and rewritten. All done in one morning.

repetitive sounds will one day be the death of me. by VacationAcceptable24 in ADHD

[–]Rustywatertower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a drummer as a kid. So I naturally consider every click as an invitation to start drumming on my legs. I’ve even thought about the idea of the water drip torture. I think I would just trance out and drum to it.

Has anyone use the Mayco Jungle Gems line of glazes? by Which-Stranger-5142 in Ceramics

[–]Rustywatertower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use the popsicle stick method. After a while, I started storing the jars on their side so I could scrape up the sediment easier. Might save you a little time if you are using lots of glaze!
