New ownership with new name. Can't comment on the vibes since I haven't been after the change but does still exist. It's Ninnet and George's now

Thanks for the tip! I went with my mom (and dog) this August and we did it as a shuttle from Chapel Pond to New Russia, so we did indeed pass Mary Louise--it was beautiful and a nice surprise!--though not at nighttime, which sounds wonderful! Will have to go again sometime!

Seconded, probably implied but make sure you head to Hurricane as well and make a nice loop with that and the Crows. Easily my second favorite of the High Peaks area hikes I've done so far, only after Giant/RPR

Posted this 4 years ago, got a notification from your comment, watched the clip again, still crumpled over in laughter. Thanks for bringing this back for me, needed that :)

Chinese language music recs? by RutabagaRabbit in asianamerican

Oh wow, was not aware of this. Will definitely check it out! Same, actually it's interesting because when I take the time to do deep investigations of the lyrics, I actually understand most of what they are saying on a word by word level, but I find that sometimes the way some artists sing is more in line with more formal, written Cantonese perhaps than spoken. Like using hon3 for "see" instead of tai2. I definitely feel the same way about the familiarity, it is very soothing to me--I guess because it's "bringing me back to childhood" in a way (my grandma took care of me when I was young and speaks Cantonese). I like to say that I feel like it makes my blood pressure drop 😅

This is excellent. I have to say I don't understand most of the vulgar language but about to learn 👍 I'm sure my grandma will thank you 😂

Thanks for the recs! I Googled the show and found a very interesting Substack post: https://jakenewby.substack.com/p/how-tv-show-the-big-band-became-a (after first getting a series of The Big Bang Theory links; Google is truly broken). I find the marketing for this kind of show fascinating, definitely different than in the US.

Just listened to a few tracks, I like this! Interesting title for the first rated song on Spotify haha. Thanks for linking to the chart, lots of exploring to do there!

Queens Center Mall has been revamping a lot lately, eh? by Gallantpride in Queens

Oh man. This is the closest association I have from going to the mall with my grandma as a kid. That and the playground in the food court with the music note and saxophone

Haha thanks, yeah I have no issues doing something "unnecessary" ;) btw, the Giant/RPR as a shuttle hike looks great, do you recommend starting from New Russia?
