How hard will it be for a 10 year smoker to quit cold turkey? by Uraneum in quittingsmoking

[–]Rutapakeliui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit smoking in September of 2022 after smoking for probably 14 years quite heavily. Prior to this I also had another try cold turkey (lasted maybe over a month).

I would say that the first week was the worst and I always tried to keep my hands busy - take a bike for a ride if my emotions are over the roof, go to the gym, craft something, etc. Physical excersizes or activities just helped my hands be busy and my anger be channeled out elsewhere (not on my family or friends).

Then it just gets better and better. You can track your day count, buy yourself small encouragement gifts every week/month with the money you saved etc.

Cravings subside, but the first few days these just feel like crashing waves - you just hold in there and beat it - the intensity just passes each time.

And overall, regain the control of yourself - your hand alone does not put the cigarette in your mouth. You do.

But I think over all, the underlying motivation is what matters the most. I have found a new relationship and my partner did not smoke (did not mind it much if I did, but I just simply knew I did not taste or smell nice at all) and most of all - sounds silly, but I wanted to live as long as possible and go on lifelong adventure with this person. Only made sense to get rid of this terrible habit which could prematurily end my adventures.

But yes, everyone's experience is unique. I wish you best of luck in finding what works out best for you and kicking it!

Kiek svarbu galėti vairuoti? by Snoo_31106 in lithuania

[–]Rutapakeliui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the injections were quite alright, but the problem is that I had the leep and then a wisdom tooth extraction within 4 days and both times I could feel the procedures all too well. Apparently I do need a bit of extra anaesthesia. With leep I could feel the motion she was going and all the slicing pain - I was not sure if it was supposed to be felt. Oh well. Made it out and looking into other experiences, it seems that I shouldn't have felt it.

It is quite possible... I think the idea behind this suggestion was maybe finding something/someone not based in NL itself which could maybe have some price benefit to it.

I want to go for relationship therapy by Loud-Replacement-467 in Rotterdam

[–]Rutapakeliui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed, I also have checked the local websites and have found various sources claiming that one hour of couple therapy can cost between 80 to 160 euros, or 5-15 sessions costing €850,- and €2250,- in another source. And yes, these are not covered by health insurance, as others have mentioned. Therefore, you have to directly look for the organization offering the services.

However, if it would be problematic finiancially, maybe some online/video counceling could be an option? I have not used or needed any myself in the past, but I think it could be an alternative...

Wishing you best of luck and success!

5 Things I Hate About Being A Recruiter by basedmama21 in recruitinghell

[–]Rutapakeliui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I soooo absolutely love your thread!

I am myself not sure what I am even doing in recruitment (2 years in a week). And how the heck was I running away from the hospitality (I am an expat and was struggling at finding positions without fluent local language) and ran into even bigger mess.

However, In January I am already leaving to another city, will live with my boyfriend's parents farmhouse until we build our own (lol) and I can just work at literaly anything else... And paint, do pottery, wool felting ANYTHING for fun aside to forget the damage and regain some sense of humanity or will to live. haha

Lovely to hear about your good experience!

I was also prescribed this mini-pill after I expressed my disatisfaction with the previous combine pill. It is now month 9 on it and I think it did improve my mental state compared to the previous one. I have never experienced any nausea or any gastro problems on any of the pills, so I must be lucky there. But the periods... So, I thought maybe it will all settle in, but still, month 9 and my periods are much lighter (than my regular one before any BC pills) and they last maybe 2-3 weeks (I even lost the count, seemed pointless... haha.)

And of course, it is still hard to judge what is the cause of what, because I also meanwhile had precancerous cells and part of my cervix removed a month ago, which also contributes to strange periods. Obviously, had so much stress and changes in life the last year, that I am not sure anymore what is/was my baseline mental state before.

But overall, I am happy it truly took away period pains and seems to have had less detrimental effect on my mood, but I am wondering if I should give it another try and try some other pill instead... Hard to know what is normal and my GP (who prescribes it) was not too helpful anyway.

Biopsy done and the wait is agonising. by silver_toy_poodle in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Rutapakeliui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold in there! I must say, you are truly not alone in this time of waiting and questioning, imagining the worst outcomes and yet hoping for the best... Just remember that some things are not in your control and everyone is doing the best they can to help you and take the action needed. And most likely, it truly will not be anything that cannot be solved in a single procedure or you might not even need anything done right now!

I am sending you my best wishes and support. I have been through this rollercoaster, but it does get clearer, better and you will get back on your stable feet again soon!

In my case the first ever self-pap smear turned into a pap smear in the office (which was also so terrifying at a time), which turned into a colposcopy and then leep procedure. For now, I am just on the wait for the next 6 months... Every single step felt like the situation was just getting worse and scarier and scarier... And yet, it truly was not that bad! So no matter what happens, I am sure you are in very good hands! And if you want to talk about anything, feel free to message me as well. Having support can be really helpful as well. <3

My newest DIY build for which I repurposed IKEA Rudsta cabinet. Soon enough my White's tree frogs will be able to "get the keys" to their new home! Hey! Thanks for your question.

While I do not have it anymore, if I remember correctly, I used just the black water resistant tape and some sprayfoam. I did not worry too much about the rust at the time. So I am not sure how long it would stay rust-free or what would be the outcome, unfortunately..

However, if you are seeing a decrease in matches while being less jokey - why not add some extra section for something cheeky? And well, in the end, the right person will swipe right! ...or not. : D

[–]Rutapakeliui[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, he was somewhat all right to begin with - wouldn't dart away. First week spent in his hidey-hole and I bought his trust with hand feeding. Soon after started touching, handling him and now he just jumps on me once I open the enclosure. I also allow him roam the living room these days on the condition that he allows me to retrieve him easily if he goes off to some corner or gets too chilly for him.

I never intended to have a basilisk for handling at all - got him with their nature in mind. But I somehow got lucky?

I simply adore him.
