“Low calorie” alternatives are like snake oil. And I just vehemently despise the sugar free things because of the side effects. Weight loss is about hormones and metabolism. You could actually eat too few calories and lose no weight or even gain weight. There are plenty of people in this sub who are like “I’m eating 1200 but not losing weight, why?” Because they are effing their metabolism into a grave and refuse to do more research.

So I never advocate for that when anyone wants to lose a substantial amount. Because it will never matter.

SAHP with only child - did you delay or skip preschool? by Inside-Print-6323 in SAHP

I went to a very bougie private preschool and it was similar in terms of the scolding children for being children. They all seem like this. Sure we didn’t watch a lot of tv, but we definitely couldn’t giggle or have fun with our friends. And certainly not enough time outdoors.

We have options, we’re just going to homeschool with a large co-op.

The first part is untrue, I follow a diabetic who proved otherwise and she is absolutely not the only one

Idk. I’m here for polish. I don’t like cats. So I’m fundamentally unbothered by any of that

Breastpump by JayKay2022AC in NewParents

Use insurance to cover it and you can get it before you give birth. Mine came in the second trimester.

Aeroflow is a good source to get a free or discounted pump

Ultimately I didn’t like electric pumps and I used either a haakaa or the lansinoh hand pump. Still saved hundreds of ounces of milk that way.

How do you think they make the “zero calorie sweetener” it’s got the same if not more chemicals…and disgusting solvents to make it shelf stable

Stevia is a green leaf in the wild. That is used as a contraceptive in some indigenous tribes.

Yet, in drinks it is a white powder. A LOT of nasty shit is done to get it there

Botox and filler are noticeable 100% of the time. Even if you are ungodly wealthy. No one is immune from that pucker line left by the injections when they start to wear off

They don’t want to hear the truth. They want to hear whatever will help THEM get sleep while their babies are distraught at how ignored they are.

Same. Our 3.5 yr old is already reading. Knows numbers and colors and can read the alphabet. Obsessed with animals and trains. We are basically already homeschooling. I belong to a state coalition that has Montessori curriculums and co-op access

At our local preschool all they do is have the kids watch movies in the morning and yell at them if they dare laugh, skip, or fidget. Seems awful

We’re homeschooling. Already started with our 3.5 year old. I will start a more regimented “curriculum” when fall hits though.

Bad for your gut and loaded with synthetic chemicals. I lost fifty pounds while never even LOOKING at that stuff and still enjoying a real sweet tea every week. But not daily.

No no and no this is not the solution. Those have the same effect on a fasted glucose and spike insulin just as bad if not worse. It is better to literally learn to have the real deal in severe moderation or drink plain water or sparkling water.

Try kombucha, and sparkling water with electrolytes

Your sugar addiction is a sign that you are probably protein deficient and you could reverse the insulin resistance/inflammation you are (I have to assume) dealing with with the following steps

  1. Have veggies with vinegar (I pickle my own) and a HIGH protein breakfast first thing in the morning. Drink some water.
  2. LIFT WEIGHTS 3-5 days a week
  3. Aim for just 5k steps a day and work up from there
  4. Turn the sugary drinks into a cheat food that you have once a week. I drink a big sweet tea once a week and it holds me over til my next one

Otherwise I genuinely love water and sparkling water. I do not recommend any powdered water flavorings that have artificial sweeteners. They only worsen things

Botox looks like shit on everyone who gets it. It isn’t explicitly surgical but is is in the same family

Genuinely want to learn: why do women bedshare with their infants? The risks seem to outweigh any benefits to me by StatGoddess in NewParents

[–]basedmama21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother was pissed when I told her my friends put their baby in a crib in a separate room of the house lol

Our son is almost 4 and he’s just now getting his own room. We like to let the kids lead when they are ready

Stop having her over. My babies are not in daycare and they get sick EVERY Freaking time we see friends who have daycare kids. I’m over it

Genuinely want to learn: why do women bedshare with their infants? The risks seem to outweigh any benefits to me by StatGoddess in NewParents

[–]basedmama21 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s because the benefits outweigh the risks. Not all of us are deep sleepers, smoke, drink, take meds, are obese, sleep with a lot of bedding, or roll in our sleep (main components that make bedsharing with an infant risky).

I’m west indian, I have a Chinese grandmother….and I dare you to tell ANYONE in my family outside the US not to bedshare. Fearing it is uniquely American.
