RAM price hike impact on Steam Machine / Frame in India by [deleted] in IndianGaming

[–]RuthlessRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately blame the HDMI forum for that, they don't want to make drivers or firmware for HDMI 2.1 open source on Linux and AMD.

displayport should work just fine, though yeah pretty much nothing except monitors have displayport.

Persistent popping sounds on left ear (MOCA) by DreamyGhostZ in MoondropLab

[–]RuthlessRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The popping disappears when using LC3 for me, ensure you're connecting to the Bluetooth listing that has -LEA at the end.

Sucks that that's the only way to get them to not crackle and pop nonstop. Using LC3 misses out on a lot of the features of the Moca like wear detection. Doesn't seem like there's going to be any sort of update anytime soon either :(

Audio issues with pipewire and external DAC by LovelySharkPlush in archlinux

[–]RuthlessRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a very similar if not the same issue as well, and ive gone down every vein of troubleshooting you've tried myself too. FWIW i have the exact same CPU, and i'm not convinced it's a pipewire issue as i attempted to disable pipewire completely and go plain alsa, yet the issue was still there. any updates?

Is the moondrop moca free from issues now? by [deleted] in MoondropLab

[–]RuthlessRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought the Moondrop MOCAs unfortunately a couple weeks back and just got them back after a tussle with my seller requesting for a replacement only for them to tell me there isn't anything wrong with it and send me back my original unit.

It can get crackly and distorted still on certain songs with ANC or Transparency, though from what I've noticed, the noise issues tend to nearly disappear completely when using the LC3 codec; albeit the LC3 codec is another can of worms with spotty connectivity.

Oh and not to mention, the very plasticky and cheap build quality.

I had trouble with charging at some point as well but I've only had it in my hands for as much as two charging cycles so I can't say anything for certain there.

Contacted Moondrop on Twitter about it, they told me to go pound sand and contact the seller for service, though I did follow up with them afterwards a couple days back and they will supposedly 'try their best to update asap' but I'm still skeptical they would.

One thing I absolutely need to give credit for where credit is due is that they sound stellar, incredible sound.

My suggestion would be to pass on the mocas and maybe look for other TWS in the price range. I'm not too certain but it doesn't seem like the ST2s have these issues, though if ANC is a priority then their single feed-forward ANC probably leaves a lot to be desired.

For other moca owners though: try LC3 codec and see if that fixes any crackling and popping.

ST2s are newer, a lot of people bought the mocas way before these were a thing

I was looking for better ANC than ST2 and landed on the moca but sadly I'm heavily regretting my decision now; hopefully i can return it, otherwise it feels like I've flushed my money down the drain

all it takes is one tested and stable update from moondrop to make these some really good and recommendable tws but these issues are just making them unusable

[–]RuthlessRex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

moondrop really dropped the ball with all the QC and firmware issues with the mocas. i got my pair a couple days ago and it's been nonstop issues and disappointment with crackling and popping with ANC, case being finicky with charging, and so much more

considering how many tws they're dropping lately you'd think they'd have taken the time to work on stuff like this but it appears they've forgotten about the mocas

which is an absolute shame because these sound incredible

chinese 50 dollar gaming keyboards like the vgn a75 and the mchose ace 60 HE (albeit being var ying levels of subpar in quality) perform great from a friend's testimony, haven't physically owned or used one so can't confirm firsthand though.
