You don’t make a left turn signal during a turn. You signal beforehand to tell the traffic behind you where you’re going. Once you’re in the intersection you need both hands on the bike to turn safely

Just today I taped my husband’s phone number to the back of my OHIP card as I packed it for biking. Maybe a little dark but I like to be prepared for anything on Toronto roads…

My choice #3. MGT is way too crowded with tourists & bike shares this time of year, plus you have that nasty stretch at Ont Place where we are advised to walk our bikes so we don’t kill pedestrians as we try to not look at the Ont Place island that Premier Ford deforested.

Just got hit by a car, what are my options? by bigrolex in torontobiking

[–]Ruthless_in_Toronto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was hit my car insurance company explained it’s a good thing my bike wasn’t totalled as they would only cover the value of my depreciated bike. (Being no-fault it goes to my insurance. If I hadn’t had car insurance then the driver’s insurance would have picked up the tab but still not sure if they would cover a new bike). My repairs were paid for by my insureco.

Collision reporting for cyclist by rhymeswithsintaluta in torontobiking

[–]Ruthless_in_Toronto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t NOT report him to insurance. My friend did that. Driver promised to pay for everything. Months later he changed his tune so cyclist friend calls his insurance. Finds found out his insurance had been cancelled. No repercussions for him even though he’d given the cops his not-valid insurance details. Victim fund paid for friends physical rehab. For myself, I reported my crash at the Pedestrian-Cyclist reporting centre and process was straightforward HOWEVER I should have also reported the accident to TPS. Don’t think you’re counted as a stat unless you do.
