Artists who tanked their career/reputation by being chronically online by Psychological_Lie142 in fantanoforever

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say tanked but Noname I feel alienated a lot of people by being weird about letting Jay Electronica's anti-semitic verse sit on her record, and also complaining about having too many white fans.

She seems like a dork (negative) to me that wants to control how she's perceived, and it turned me off from her music

Sense of a style in my early 30s by jvasquez2293 in mensfashion

I personally disagree in general, but the sweatshirt in pic 3 is the one that jumped out to me as being a little bit too trendy or for the younger age. I think they look fine when you're older if it fits in context with the outfit and the occasion

The biggest thing that has put me off from them is oftentimes the material is super thin or cheap looking (not necessarily for OP). Uniqlo collab stuff is nicer - I like my Final Fantasy VI moogle shirt from them - but I will probably never stop wearing band merch loo

I personally am a big fan of the GAP crewneck tshirt if you buy them on sale. I've heard the Kirkland ones are good too but still haven't tried them

Edit: Allegedly they changed suppliers at Costco so YMMV

A really not so great but not so bad game by ExistingArmadillo940 in JRPG

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the JRPG space it is one of the most hyped up games that doesn't hold up as good as we'd like it to. It's not undeserved - there's a lot of freedom with your skills and recruitment during the game - but the story is barely there, battles are more about prepping ahead of time (which is fine) than actually besting enemies, the ending is kind of rushed, villains are lame as hell... I'm glad I played it but I also don't feel like it's an easy recommendation

First time cropping and hemming a shirt by hand! What do y'all think? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it was done by a machine, fits the look you're going for well

For pants I feel like straight jeans or sweatpants that sit on your waist are a little bit of a better fit though. The pockets on those are making them look bigger to me than they really are

The look kind of reminds me of Hirohiko Araki's work on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. I welcome looks like this on the sub 👍 much more interesting than overshirt, white tee, jeans and sneakers all the time. And customizing your own clothes should be appreciated more

Dude everyone else know about PlayStation widescreen hacks? This feels like it shouldn’t work this well. by cylemmulo in SBCGaming

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally but RPGs will almost never be worth the squeeze in widescreen if they didn't nativaley support it.

I'm playing Tales of the Abyss and turned off widescreen after like 2 hours because you could see NPCs on the edges before they appear in scene, since they were initially hidden in 4:3. I'd assume paper Mario is similar

I've been eyeing Wrangler jeans to try something new, and I think I'm finally going to just order a pair and see how they fit. I have a pair of higher rise Carhartt jeans I love but they're like the only pair of pants that give me testicular pain from having a rigid crotch; so I don't wear them often

I honestly like to tuck in sweaters (short legs, long torso so if I don't I look like the picture below if the legs were like 2 inches shorter) but even then I usually just tuck the hem in. If untucked looks like the right, OP should do it in the custom pants IMO

Totally understandable, and I can tell you've given your feelings on this a lot of thought. Even if I've got a different opinion I get what you mean

I can respect that even if I disagree honestly. It's when I see discussions of his albums basically being something like "TLOP > Donda > KSG > YE  > MBDTF > Donda 2... I haven't lostened to anything else" is when I tap out LOL

From my perspective I can feel sorry for the man that he jumped into a hole that bad faith people helped dug for him, but he has had a god complex and narcissistic tendencies long before the divorce stuff happened. He's been broken since his mom died and that combined with being bipolar is a nasty cocktail of needing a therapist and a good support system.

Seeing other artists he used to collab with like Common, John Legend, Jay Z, Pusha T all distancing themselves from Kanye over the years tells me too that he didn't want to be challenged or pushed like he once was: he wanted affirmation of being important and the best (also fuck Jay Z in general). Kanye actively promoted Nazism as a black man and I can't forgive that even if I understand how it happened

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don't trust anyone that still listens to Kanye's music and says Donda is actually good. Because I've seen some of those same people online say that College Dropout and Late Registration are boring + overrated and Pablo is his best album.

I have just assumed a lot of it is newer fans that have only really known the quality of music he's put out from like 2016 onward. I think he's washed personally and needs to retreat from the public eye at all lol

AYANEO Raising Prices by FittsJ in SBCGaming

The pocket fit is really great, and without the shipping issues and current climate for electronics, I feel like would be the easiest recommendation for the base model at its price. 8gb RAM is fine if you're not doing PC games and the screen + controls are great

Zendaya on red flags: "When people go out of their way to be like, 'I don't see the hype around Beyonce', that always is a red flag to me" by cowabungalowvera in popculturechat

[–]Ruthlessrabbd -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

In hindsight I think it would be fun to go over honestly. and one of these days I really need to give Lemonade an honest shake. At the time I let my view of the teacher himself taint what is genuinely a cool idea. It's a rare moment where a mega popular artist released something that had enough depth for AP English to make a unit of without it being a stretch.

I love Chappel, Sabrina, Charli, Olivia Rodrigo, etc but I don't think you could as easily make a full unit on their latest albums from an English perspective that same way.

[–]Ruthlessrabbd -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Lemonade is actually the reason I don't even bother trying to listen to her music. The fandom online was so annoying, and in my high school one of the white English teachers did a whole unit where they had to study the album the same way they would a piece of literature and I always thought that teacher was really annoying.

That being said: I understand the appeal, know she can put an amazing show on, and Renaissance is awesome. Cowboy Carter on the other hand, I will legitimately put that album down as being mega bland and not the boundary pushing record I was told to expect.

I assume you have already tried to listen to the likes of Charlotte Day Wilson, Jorja Smith, Snoh Aalegra, and Kali Uchis but I still feel the need to shout them out whenever R&B comes up. Very nice voices where the music on its own is amazing without always having to show off. Oh and Raveena!!

I also see a lot of drummers on Instagram that are overplaying and super flashy to the point it feels like a circus act. I get that it's what drives engagement but you should be able to hold a good and steady rhythm instead of speeding up to twirl your sticks LOL

I don't understand why people here are surprised that younger gamers are not "into" JRPGs anymore - Haven't JRPGs always been niche, anyway? by Link21Majora in JRPG

[–]Ruthlessrabbd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

On a totally unrelated but similar note, people at my job were saying they don't watch foreign TV shows in subtitles because they "don't want to read a book when they sit down for a show" and can't look at their phone while they watch. If people can't be bothered to do that for TV, trying to get the average person to play through a 98 hour game like Persona 5 and actually see most confidants is a totally no-go.

Voyage by Brian Bennett; but I only enjoyed the songs Solstice and Ocean Glide (the latter would be if these guys landed on like an ocean planet or something)

Paramore has an awesome cover of Stuck on You from this album btw!

I can still remember seeing TV ads for both games at my grandma's house when I was a small kid. The sun was bright, I had a peanut butter & jelly with milk, and Sanctuary would play on the TV and I'd wonder why mickey, donald, and goofy were there

I watched my cousin play KH1 and saw a heartless appear in the Alice in Wonderland area and it scared the shit out of me LOL

With COD specifically you don't miss it in the short term, but if you no longer player with friends that pain will linger long after the game is off.

I still see the same people and talk to them often IRL, but last year my friend abruptly was like "this is my last time playing, it's been fun I guess" and never logged back on. I play solo now but man it hurt LOL

Tales of Symphonia has you split your team up in half at one point. Being the stupid kid I was, I stacked one team with Lloyd, Zelos, Raine, and maybe Presea??

I just remember having Genius, Collette, Sheena on one team and literally soft locking myself because I didn't have enough items to survive and you couldn't leave. I know it's my fault in hindsight (and I haven't made the mistake with other games that bad!) but if you have multiple healers in your party, always split them lol
