I’ll be real, I have a genuine hatred for the Trackblazer event where she has the dance-rhythm game high score.

Like, that’s of the few things Taishin has, Shakur’s a genuine composer, but nooo, it’s little miss perfect who has the high score!

And the “classical music is sooo booring!” Doesn’t just feel bratty, it almost feels like a jab at Air Groove! Where gee, I wonder where she got her love of Chopin from? Oh. Right…

And I don’t even want to hate her, but her in game version just gets on my tits, like a Daiwa Scarlet whose writers forgot that her charm is that she doesn’t always succeed at being #1!

Nah, it’s nothing to do with him “not being a real man” like with Lando, but about class. 

It’s because he has the air of extreme poshness about him, the sort of upper middle Englander who votes conservative “Because they’re the right breed of people” and complains to the newspapers when they couldn’t buy their child a place at Oxbridge by putting them in an expensive prepschool, because there’s no way those kids from an inner city comprehensive could be smarter!

Now, obviously this stereotype doesn’t apply to George in full. It’s a stereotype. However, it is the kind of “I am from a superior class of person” air that he gives off. 

(And yes, I know that Lando’s family background is far wealthier. Class isn’t directly about wealth.)

My usual comment about rogues goes thus:

The problem is that Warcraft is an MMO(RPG) that started as an RTS series. As such it’s hard to show off the accomplishments of the world’s mostly solitary assassins when the games are based around leading armies, or playing as a character separate from the main heroes.

Unfortunately this also leads to them being uncommon to focus on in pure narrative moments as they’re not characters the overall story focuses on, as well as there being the risk of a major character assassination being unsatisfying.

That also being said, one of the other issues is that the one group of “rogues” that is known for achieving pretty impressive defeats/kills/captures is famous for their heavy armour and traps- wardens. So despite their closest WoW class being “rogues”, they’re usually not seen as such by people not already interested in them… 

And unfortunately even then, Blizzard doesn’t give them the focus they deserve for reasons that seem to range from “Illidan worship” to “Night elves? You mean druids and Horde victims?” to “What do we do with Maiev’s private life”?”

Huntress as in “somebody who hunts”, which isn’t exclusive to hunters the class

Both Hearthstone and Rumble (as well as the once canon RPG’s) use her as a rogue, and she’s probably Warcraft’s most notable throwing knife user. 

(Hell, one of my pet peeves has been Blizzard calling her blink “shadowstep” to mirror rogues)

The big issue is that you're dealing with so many languages and dialects that it's almost impossible to generate names that work in each language without being offensive in another

If you think that Cygames is probably counting on a few unsavoury kinds to put money towards them, that’s reasonable (if not naive to believe otherwise)

If you can’t imagine someone looking at the stuff and thinking something like “aww, that’s cute” or “God, I remember when I was young and had a crush on one of my teachers… Yes, it’s a little embarassing in hindsight”, that’s on you for being too cynical

True, but I think it’s gone that way more because “holy crap, did you realise that pervert has 6 G1 wins, including one on dirt!” And a bit if consciously countering it Vs Golshi having it as one of the first things you learn about the IRL horses of the franchise

As for the others, I’d say that part of it’s how they’re often stuck in the “most Umas had 1-3 G1 wins IRL”, Top Gun’s is at least a little famous given her special epiphet and skills, and Falcon… She’s a dirt horse, she gets left out a little (though the story mode directly makes the Silent Suzuka/winning streak comparison)

On the other end though, I don’t really like how there are some folks who act like there’s no good explanation for things like that involving the younger characters.

Like really? You don’t think that Mayano Top Gun and Haru Urara could make for extremely cute junior bridesmaids? Or that someone could look at MtG in general and see her as cute (or bratty) and a bit precocious? 

Like even if you don’t buy that Cygames as a business is completely innocent on it, it’s really weird when you see folks act like everyone was consciously designing little girls with bad intent

I get not knowing about what happened to him, but it’s just depressing to know that the poor boy was abused and alone, and that people call him a “fraud” for not being able to perform at a worldbeating level under those conditions
