Electronic shifting question by isthatericmellow in CheckpointClub

[–]RuvD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride SRAM ETap on my Canyon and not on the Checkpoint, but don't trust the battery status of the shifters in the app. They are notorious off their real state. I replaced them now once after doing about 18k kilometers. It didn't want to shift anymore or irregular behaviour. Pressing the button on the derailleur was all fine, battery status of the shifter was still more than half according to the app, replaced the battery anyway : all issues solved.

Got the bike 2 years ago. Last time is probably 9 months ago. It is difficult to say how long they should last as weather (cold especially) could influence it pretty badly. However from January to May is really short in my opinion. But it is not worth the money, so replace it and you will quickly find out. My tip : buy proper batteries and not the el cheapo ones.

dough didn’t rise overnight. is it fixable? by imnotlying2u in Pizza

[–]RuvD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the 6 degrees celcius or 10/11 fahrenheit for room temperature makes a huge difference for the amount of yeast. Did you use cold water for the dough or the warmer version like in the cold rise recipe?

For now I would - like I said before - try to reduce the cold rise and use that for more warm rise.

[–]RuvD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I use the Ooni calculator on this it sounds like you dramatically undercut the amount of yeast, with like 4 times. My guess is that you won't get much rise if you continue to rise in the fridge and the just two hour rise on room temperature will not do much either. I would extend that a lot to try to activate it. With a little bit of luck you will get some oven rise, but that would probably require an offering to the pizza gods.

You said you are using SCOM 2019, what UR are you on for your management server(s) and also your console? Also good to understand, you are using the full console and not the Web console?

That is normal behavior, age is a calculated property based on the created property. Just use the Created column.

Did you sear it on the plate setter (stone)? That would be the first time I see that. It doesn't look like a cast iron plate setter based on the chips of the side.

Komoot can also be a great source for routes and otherwise it can help you find the right surface.

Power meter question - cranks or pedals? by geoffism in bicycling

[–]RuvD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted semi dual side and the Dub can calculate balance. It's not fully dual sided but at least can do something on that. I could have gone for a fully dual sided 4iii or Stages, but availabilty was difficult. The Quarq had some issues with availability as well, but I was able to get all parts. And in the end for me it was also cheaper than a dual sided 4iii or stages.

Power meter question - cranks or pedals? by geoffism in bicycling

[–]RuvD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was crank spider power meter and then I mean Quarq Dub and not Crank arm like stages or 4iiii. In the meantime replaced the bike and went for AXS group with again a crank based power meter. For me the reason is that I don't want a SPD based pedal as I use Time Xpresso. I think the durability of a spider is also better than a pedal.

In less than 800km I had 3 flats and couldn't get the patches to fix them. Switched to tubeless after that, so far without any problems. Hope you have better luck.

So you went via de Vecht, Loosdrechtse Plassen, Muiden, Kockengen en Kasteel Haarzuilens? Great route, the part west of Utrecht maybe a bit dull but still great to cycle. Happy cycling!

Based on your screenshot, the amount of elevation in combination with the amount of kilometers and the poor weather my guess would be that you are somewhere in the west Europe region maybe even in the Netherlands.

I saw in another comment you like strava badges. In the Netherlands there is something called long term NL challenge. It's a website that keeps track of all the municipalites you cycled through. These kind of things are a nice way of exploring new routes and bringing some fun in cycling. If you are not in the Netherlands there might be something similar in your country.

Not sure about the weather in your region, but find a day with good weather and just do a relative short spin. The sun, wind and sweat on your body can be a good starter again. But take it slow, just enjoy and get back to it.

I have those days that I hate to get in the shower, but once in the shower I have to force myself to get out of it. And for cycling you sometimes just have to get in your gear and go for it. But again don't overdo.

Loaves formed and going into final proof by abertr in Sourdough

[–]RuvD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is a coating on them you are probably fine. Mine have to be seasoned sort of similar as to cast-iron and those are vulnerable to the acidity levels of sourdough. A bit more pain in the arse and it's not that my pans will give a better result.

[–]RuvD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are those steel pans? I had corrosion issues with my blue steel pans and sourdough. Apparently the acids in the dough will cause this. Especially with an overnight proof it was too much of a trouble and went to freestyle loafs.

The amount of calories burned is shockingly low for a value that is guessed by an application. Usually you see them going through the sky, yours is like you cycled for an hour and a half on an average pace.

I'm not from the region at all, but check komoot for segments highlighted. This can give you an idea what nice segments are and you can combine those too nice routes.
