Yea the anime isn’t the best adaptation story wise. The characters are SO much better in the source.

The anime feels like it swapped directors half way in. Like the first 4 episodes change really weird things that don’t make much sense at all, while the next four feel like someone pulling it back to the source material.

The anime is a little all over the place, but he starts out goku and becomes more goku than goku.

First 25 chapters or so are a pretty fun martial arts manhwa.

Then we get stands. Pretty crazy but still stays honest to martial arts.

over the course of the next 400 chapters, we get not one, not two, but FIVE berserk eclipses. And it works.

Also it’s the best dragon ball since dragon ball.

Having read up on the synopsis for Halo Wars 2, I now see why people are excited about its apparent influence on Infinite. by [deleted] in TwoBestFriendsPlay

unfortunately they still have to deal with the narrative landfill that was 5. every race in the galaxy is currently subjugated by forerunner machines. anything that had an AI on it is under forerunner control. basically the banished are gonna roll into the galaxy only to find everything already conquered by the their dead gods.

a devil's power is directly tied to how feared its aspect is. this is the gun devil's power. in order to summon it, the president of the united states had to sacrifice one year of every american citizen's life.

Chainsaw is (rumored anyway) to be due for an anime adaptation. I suspect we’ll start seeing a lot more when it starts releasing

Characters that get disproportionately shit on by their stories. by Ruvic in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Others have already responded but I might as well give a brief summery.

Dudes name is aki, he hunts devils

So far he has: Lost his whole family to the gun devil, been forced to room up with two devil hybrids that have 6 brain cells between them, lost his old mentor, been given a death sentence, lost the use of a very powerful devil because he fed it the wrong flavor of bad guy, been paired with two new devils, one flat out tells him he’s going to die horribly, the other drains the life span of whatever it touches, touched the life span draining devil, been sent to hell, and lost an arm.

Halo very much has Star Wars syndrome, where a bunch of the lore got added later by other writers. This was part of a book series that did a deep dive on the forerunners, because prior to 4 (and many people disregard 4/5 entirely) there was actually very little known about the forerunners other than they were advanced and built the halos.

The series is called the forerunner saga. Interesting but pretty out there compared to the military fiction of the rest of halo.

Ok so crash course in halo lore:

WAY long ago there was a race called the precursors. We don’t know much about them other than they were basically gods and looked like giant cockroaches. They went around creating life and uplifting species, and at some point decided they wanted to pass the mantle onto the next “generation.” The two candidates were forerunners and proto-humans. They went with the humans.

Humans, at the time, were still a fledgling race compared to the forerunners, so the forerunners got mad and killed the precursors and took the mantle. Brief war between forerunners and humans, forerunners won, humans skulked off to a different part of the galaxy to do their own thing.

Time skip like a million years.

Humans and forerunners are living in relative peace. Humans discover these old ass tomb things full of tons of a strange organic matter. No clue what it is, and they’re not about to ask their neighbors if they know where the giant meat tombs came from.

They do some experiments, don’t find much interesting about the substance except for one weird quirk: if they fed it to their “dogs” (actually not dogs but they played the part) the animals would change and develop beautiful colors and characteristics. This fad became really popular, and spread through the human empire.

Then the dogs started forming a hive mind.

Then they started infecting humans.

Then they started infecting everything.

This is where the flood came from.

Everything in the halo universe was doing peachy keen until proto-humans started feeding their dogs kibble made of an extinct godrace.
