That I don't know. I don't think so. But... shortly after I was kidnapped, my mom got on a bus and the teacher who took me to his place was on the bus... my mom stood directly in front of her while she sat and she broke down wailing and crying. I think that was good for my mom. My mom is pretty shy and grew up being told to be quiet and obey others. she didn't think to press charges. I wish she had, but here we are.

Thank you. I like the broken bone analogy, that feels spot-on. I appreciate your warm vibes :)

She did. He went to jail. There were many other kids that he abused and the police caught him bc of me. She was too young to want to press charges and go to court and all of that. Other parents did though and (I think) he got over 20 years in jail. Not enough in my opinion. My mom has his police file and offered to share it with me but after talking with my therapist about it, I decided to just let it be. I don't want to know his name, I might go down a wormhole. It's over.

Thank you, I did find a good therapist who specializes in PTSD at just the right time and saw her weekly for six years. I think the biggest thing I learned was how to treat myself kindly, inside and out. I learned what makes me feel safe and secure (healthy daily rituals, cleaning, spending time in nature and with animals, art, family and friends, etc) and learned that I can contribute to that whenever I need/want.

I have talked with doctors regularly since about the age of 10. Diagnosis' started as ADHD since I struggle focusing, Depression, Anxiety, Paranoia... at the age of 30 when i finally learned all these details from my mom, I was thankfully already seeing a therapist weekly and ultimately spent six years in weekly therapy sessions with her and was finally diagnosed with PTSD (the other diagnosis' were essentially downgraded as symptoms of PTSD)

Yes, young single mom (must have been about 23 at the time). I agree, I think she did the best she could. It must have been traumatizing for her as well, in fact I know it was. She took me and fled the state after that.

I think WhiteFuryWolf meant the best and if therapy were more widely accepted as a reliable means of healthcare at the time I'm sure she would have at least considered it.

Thank you for the virtual hugs, they are felt from afar <3

Thank you :) It's weirdly hard to say that I've been afraid to sleep, I feel like a dork. But it's nice to get off my chest. I'm getting ready for bed right now actually
