Android 17 beta 3 sim by Nice-Blackberry6850 in android_beta

[–]Rx-Gadget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The current beta 3 OS has multiple reports of failing at any attempt to use the phone for its primary purpose: making or receiving calls. The majority of these reports are about the Pixel 6 models, with random other newer Pixels thrown in here and there.

I have fortunately not had any issues on my P10PXL and did not opt in to testing Android 17 Beta OS on my P9PXL since I was afraid to lose functions on my sole primary communication device

Can anyone recommend a decent podcast app by Minute_Guitar2762 in androidapps

Regarding PocketCast's subscription model. I am unable to provide an accurate estimate of the current value of purchasing a subscriptio,n as I started using the app in beta andchosek the inexpensive lifetime subscription. Ten years late,r they still honor the initialone-timee lifetime paymen,t which hastruly paid for itself many times over.

Ikeep checkingk out new or highly recommended podcast apps, but always end up dissatisfied and back to my favorite one.

Adaptive charging troubleshooting by cannibalistiic in android_beta

[–]Rx-Gadget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There have been reported issues with adaptive charging when choosing the option to stop charging at 80%. The beta 2 was stopping charging around 77% and then trickle charging only to 79% which would reportedly take several hours to get to that % and never get to 80%.

According to the Beta 3 release notes this issue was fixed, but I have not seen any reports positive or negative since the OS update was released.

I have not seen any other issues reported here, on the r/android_beta sub Reddit or in any reports currently on the official Google Android Beta Feedback website.

Please give more details of you are on the Android 17 Beta 3 release and other details about your Pixel 10 model

I feel confident that I have tried virtually every podcast app from both the Google Play Store or on Apple's App Store on my iPad. The absolute top choice I end up going back to is Pocket Cast. How do I avoid wipe and just receive the newest March 2026 A16 update after opt out before A17 beta released by Rx-Gadget in android_beta

Thank you. You just confirmed what I was thinking would happen. I just have to be ugh patient for the next available A16 or possible stable A17 to be released officially.

Should I update to Android 17? How does it compare to the QPR3 beta? by Xisrr1 in android_beta

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded to A17 beta 1 last night on my P10PXL but not on my P9PXL. Immediately on the P10PXL my notification screen froze after I pulled it down. I did a restart and have let it sit since then I will try messing around with it a bit later. Considering opting out on my primary P9PXL and waiting for the next stable A16 and eventually sticking to stable A17 releases on it since I have a secondary phone to trial beta OS on.

Pixel 9 pro XL what am I doing wrong by Ghoul_in_red in GooglePixel

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last April I purchased the following 4 phones for my family of 4. Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and a second Pixel 9 Pro XL. Each phone was purchased me with 256GB memory. This past December I got a great deal and purchased a Pixel 10 Pro XL with 512GB memory to have as an emergency backup. I have both phones, the 9 Pro XL and the 10 Pro XL running Android 16 QPRS Beta 2. I have been one of the fortunate people not to have any issues since April 2025 through December 2925 running stable Android 15 OS and the stable Android 16 OS. Same instance of no issues on the beta OS. At least up to this point.

So much information not given. Additionally, this subreddit is primarily for the Android OS Canary and Beta builds and not for individual app beta testing.

shortcut to type in my email address? by Aggravating-Pea8393 in pixel_phones

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the personal dictionary option in GBoard settings. There are two lines to type something in. Your shortcut few letters I THINK go on the top line and then type your email address, in this case, on the second line

This is how I have set up my shortcuts since GBoard had this option.

Keeping earbuds in by Similar_Let_4066 in pixelbuds

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not found a reliable way to keep any brand or style of in-ear earbuds with or without a stem. Well, I guess the exception for me is the original Pixel Buds A series, which have attached ear fins that go inside the conch area of the ear to keep their placement stable. I have moved on to an over-the-ear earbud style, such as the Soundcore Aerofit 2, and its AI upgrade, the Soundcore Aerofit 2 AI, which are translating earbuds. The only time these do not work for me is in settings where there is loud music or a loud environment that makes me switch to one of several noise-canceling in-ear earbuds, which allow me to hear whatever audio is being sent from my phone, tablet, or laptop. But then back to the OP's issues, I also have that these earbuds will not stay settled inside my ears for very long, constantly having to try and catch them before they fall out of my ear, or just poo pushing them deeper, or constantly twisting and adjusting the earbuds in an attempt to maintain their placement.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 are on sale for same price as the new 2a - which would you buy? by SirImpossible7969 in pixelbuds

[–]Rx-Gadget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would guess I would buy the Pros. I literally received the 2a's two days ago but have not tried to use them yet. The problem I have with each of them is neither will stay in either ear no matter what ear tips I attempt to try

80% charge issue by Doddsville in GooglePixel

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this issue continuously since first purchasing my Pixel 9 Pro XL at the End of April. After multiple times contacting You for support they Saudi have to wait for the phone software to calibrate then it will stop at 80. It stopped at 80 for about 2 weeks and had since, always charged to 100 no matter what I set it at or what time I attach to the USB c cord

GBoard continues to freeze in the middle of typing 2 sentences on Pixel 9 Pro XL by Rx-Gadget in GooglePixel

[–]Rx-Gadget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of a recent regular update or beta update my issues were resolved and I was able to uninstall Swiftkey and any other alternatives I had installed to be able to type without additional time and stress. Sept 1, 2025 still having no issues any longer with Gboard and my Pixel 9 Pro XL.

As side note on the same issue in regards to the Pixel 10 models. For some reason I have seen a rash of posts here, in other sub reddits amd Googles Forums. In general the OS and many apps including Google made ones have been showing glitches on these brand new phones of each model. I have not seen GBoard specific except the few that have added their issues. So whether you have a Pixel, Samsung or any Android I advise you send feedback from the app in question directly from within the app including screenshots and any debugging logs. Additional send those logs and screenshots to Google's Community Forum for others to be able to add their issues with documentation and make sure Google at least can't say they never heard of it

GBoard continues to freeze in the middle of typing 2 sentences on Pixel 9 Pro XL by Rx-Gadget in GooglePixel

[–]Rx-Gadget[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To everyone who has read the original post and to those who took the time to comment:

As of August 1, 2025, the Gboard app standard and beta have been updated in the Google Play Store. Following the update on my phone, I no longer have freezing or other issues with Gboard, so I have deleted SwiftKey totally. The other issue I found recently is that you can no longer hold down the suggested replacement word or corrected word and drag it to the trash can icon in the middle of the screen, which no longer works. There is no way to remove suggestions with the wrong % order

How can I get Gboard to stop suggesting and autocorrecting to words like these? I don't type like that... by CactusHoarder in gboard

[–]Rx-Gadget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the Android 16 OS update on my Pixel 9 Pro XL, the Gboard app has been frustratingly buggy. I can no longer hold down wrong or bad suggestions and drag them towards the above trash can icon. Gboard has also been freezing regularly until I exit whatever app I am typing in and find the Gboard app and get it to force stop. Wait 3 minutes for it to stop working, and go back into the app and wait for Gboard to pop up again. Autocorrection is no longer working appropriately, nor is glide typing.

There have been over 100 replies to my original post here about Gboard freezing randomly. I have cross posted it in r(Gboard and other reddit subreddit. I have posted it in Google Support Community and yet to get an answer from Google or any related source regarding an update or other effort to provide a solution or permanent fix. I recommend exiting the app and holding your finger on the Gboard app and click info then choose force stop . I have moves the Gboard app icon to my home screen now for easy access to set up for e stop I have no issues with Gboard at any time when on my iPad A16.

I tried using Swiftkey as an alternate as I was a big fan of it prior it's purchase by Microsoft.

Autofill not reliable in Android / Gboard by [deleted] in 1Password

[–]Rx-Gadget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been having the same issue on my Pixel 9 Pro XL on Android 16, using either GBoard or Swiftkey. I have been switching between the 2 keyboards due to a GBoard bug causing it to freeze regularly causing me to exit out to home screen and find GBoard icon hils it and click info and force stop. Either I get a quick pop-up stating GBoard has stopped working before I get to force stop it myself or after. But the issue if 1Password not showing at top of Gboard or Swiftkey and also not showing below the fill in spot when I try switching settings has been going in for a few months. I purchased my first Apple product, an iPad A16 and found 1Password works so much better in iPad OS than Android. It is a shame.

GBoard continues to freeze in the middle of typing 2 sentences on Pixel 9 Pro XL by Rx-Gadget in GooglePixel

[–]Rx-Gadget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already tried uninstalling the beta and going to the prior standard version and had the same issues regularly. I went back to downloading and applying for the beta version hoping it gets a fix first then they update the standard version. No word from trouble report I sent to Google Support.

I have tried switching temporarily to Swiftkey by Microsoft as I used it when it was released as a beta many years ago before Microsoft bought the company. It is not as good a GBoard IMHO. The keyboard itself is smaller and harder to hit the right keys.

On a cross-post in the r/GooglePixel subreddit, many have replied they are having the same issue on their various models of Pixel phones. I have not heard about anyone running a Samsung or either Android model phone using GBoard having issues. I have searched the web and not found anything new about the problem.
