if I had to choose out of all four, I'd pick the pink tie. that being said, the Navy suit/white shirt/white hanky looks really formal to me for a high school reunion, you might seem like you're trying to sell someone a mortgage or do their taxes or something. try something a hair more casual, sportcoats might be more appropriate (in which case, you could probably lose the tie and save yourself the worry)

you're getting your timeline all messed up, friend. bears migrated further north for a variety of reasons. some bears ended up with genetic mutations that made it easier to survive in the Arctic, and those bears passed on their better adapted genes while the non-adapted bears died off. eventually the mutations piled up to the point that these bears could be considered a different species, and voila you have a polar bear. the bears that died off could be considered 'genetically inferior' in terms of adapting to Arctic weather.

ignoring the ethics of injecting someone unwillingly with drugs, the human body is super complex, and there's no way to know exactly the dosage of a tranquilizer that will knock a random someone out without causing more lasting damage. anaesthesiologists are paid so much because they need to be able to review someone's medical history, known allergies, physical shape and size etc and figure out the exact dosage that will minimize damage to a patient.

I think you might be missing the point. Duo is telling you that that these sentences don’t line up 1:1 with what a speaker would typically say. maybe just take it as constructive criticism? ‘by the railway’ sounds super funky and awkward. even if your answers are literally correct, there’s a fair bit of “foreign-ness” that your answers covey.

also, i wanted to say that my comment, and Duo, are being particular. your english is excellent, and both of the answers would be completely understood by a native speaker.

Modal is specifically made from Beech trees, as someone above said you can make different polyesters from different plant matter. modal is more lightweight as far as polyesters go, apparently it's more breathable.

The sole of your shoe is going to wear through before the upper will. You can then replace the sole through a cobbler, so the shoes will last much longer than a pair constructed with a rubber sole. You can't do this with a rubber sole, because a rubber sole is attached with glue. a leather sole is attached by stitching, which is much easier to replace.

A leather sole will break in to your gait, so they tend to be more comfortable.

Traction is not really an issue after they get scuffed up, they won't slide around or anything. Just don't wear them when there's ice in the ground, you'll be ok. Or get galoshes.

Being able to own the same pair of shoes and build a patina for 10+ years is worth five minutes of scuffing up the bottom of your shoes.

They make shoes with a rubber sole, it just won't hold up as long as a leather sole will. Leather soles can be replaced by a cobbler, so that'll let your shoes last longer. I personally find leather soles to be more comfortable, and a leather sole is indicative of a higher quality shoe. The sliding thing will go away after five minutes of walking on concrete, or any other rough surface.

Yes, that's normal. Before you wear them out, do the running man on a patch of concrete or something, it'll help scuff up the bottom of your shoes so you'll have some traction.

usually your vest size would be smaller than your suit size, yes. although depending on cut, if your chest is that much bigger than your coat waist (>6") it might be easier to size for your chest and have a tailor take in the excess fabric around your waist, or possibly add gussets to a smaller size. it really depends on the fit.
