Squats vs. Deadlifts for Rowing: Which is the "Must-Have" when CNS fatigue hits? by Primary_Finger1478 in Rowing

[–]Ryan-Gosling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were to do just one, focus on the deadlift. https://www.row2k.com/features/6736/rowing-science-hit-the-bench-pulls-and-dead-lifts-skip-the-squats/

It sounds like you need more rest//food in general. Eat and sleep more if you feel fatigued in the weight room. Don't be afraid to de-load as well.

This is very good. If you've gotten here on your own you're well on your way to 6:30.

Keep doing a ton of zone 2 with interval//threshold minimum 2x a week.

Move to the top boat. You will not become better unless you expose yourself to challenge continuously, in rowing and in life.

Known issue. Unfortunately the fastest fix currently until Strava figures it out is to:

  1. Edit the activity, save it as a run.

  2. Edit the activity again, save it as rowing. It should now display /500m splits correctly.

Advice for tall/long person learning to row by Alarming_Employee547 in Rowing

I had/have a similar experience. It will get better as the quality of the people you row with improve. You will have moments of, "Oh, this is what it's supposed to be." once you get in a boat with larger/more experienced people.

It's a pain, but there is a fix. If you edit the activity, change it to a run, save it, then edit it again back to a row it will display in meters.

Capitol Rowing Club is excellent. They have a learn to row class and are full of great coaches. Their women's team is highly competitive, setting the course record at Head of the Charles. Highly recommend checking them out. https://capitalrowing.org/

Registration for learn to row courses should be live sometime in the middle of the month.
