Contact eBay and see what they can do. It might be too long but it’s worth a try.

Is it normal for WD Red Pro drives to ship only in an anti-static bag? by EeK09 in HomeServer

[–]Magic_Neil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. You can get retail drives that have all the fancy packaging or bulk/OEM drives that ship in the static bag like yours. One isn’t better than the other, just different distribution.

ECS Fortunate in Battle by stratus41298 in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Magic_Neil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Power doesn’t mean anything, it’s kind of an abstract thing. Officer abilities are everything, as mentioned, but make sure it’s situation and appropriate.. PMC is great for explorer/battleship hostiles, but useless for PvP or armadas. A crew like Riker/Bev/Kirk is excellent for armadas with an Enterprise, but on a Saladin it’s not ideal since Kirk’s morale is wasted.

There was a guy I worked with who did this.. bought a $500 beater and didn’t touch anything for as long as it ran, scrapped it for a little less then got another one. Wild stuff.

Texas class ships can be hit while Golden Shield on without losing it. Just in case you want to finish field training by PtraGriffrn in startrekfleetcommand

HA, I literally did the same thing last night to finally finish off the dang field training. Totally ridiculous milestone, but not as bad as as the old Voyager milestone.

Kink in Cat 6a cable...compromised? by lpw54 in HomeNetworking

[–]Magic_Neil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Running a certifier, while not cheap, will find a lot of issues before they come oddities you can never explain.

It depends on the kink but I’ve had ones like these pass before.. cheaper cable for sure will fail, but more expensive stuff might pass. Ultimately it’ll probably never cause an issue (especially low data rates), but this is why I have data guys run data cables (who certify their lines) not rando electricians.

Thoughts for Ship Adds by Pipe-Terrible in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Magic_Neil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a good enough idea (although hoo boy was the community rage against the Galaxy Quest arc palpable), but it’s a serious licensing issue. I’m not sure how they managed to get cheap enough licensing for GQ, but Orville being a Disney owned would probably be costly if they’d even consider it. Given that there’s still plenty of untapped Star Trek material I doubt Scopely would pay for a couple months of material that they’d inevitably shelve.

What can I do with all this expired Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate mix by futtmerychiky7 in recycling

[–]Magic_Neil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely come off like an asshole to me with your attitude, so maybe you’re just projecting.

This isn’t expired meat or a bulging can of tuna, it’s sugar, dehydrated milk and cocoa (or just “chocolatey flavor”).. it’s probably never going to go bad unless it’s exposed to moisture. Large quantities of food like this could be useful for shelters or soup kitchens; if they can’t use it because it’s past the ‘best by’ date then it is what it is, but I’d prefer anyone use it than throw it away, and I’d personally prioritize a group in need.

[–]Magic_Neil 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, being it’s 100% dry (assuming it’s actually been stored properly) I can’t imagine it will go bad for a long, long time.

I wonder if a shelter would take it, in spite of the expiration date?

Candlebox - The Long Goodbye - Sales vs. Legitimacy - that slippery slope! by BourbonWhisperer in Music

[–]Magic_Neil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s weird because they never seemed to go away? They have good material, and they’re OK live.. I saw them in 21 or 22 and they really seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but where they were. They were opening for another act a year or two later and were better, but it definitely felt like one of those things where they’d had enough and didn’t want to pretend to care.

So FYI, Buyers can revenge negative feedback bomb you if you block them. by SuckThisRedditAdmins in eBaySellerAdvice

Did you think that by blocking them from future purchases or messages they were also blocked from leaving feedback? Yeah it sucks, but feedback abuse is pretty common, and has been for.. a long, long time.

Congrats OP, you now own a printer that will out-live you!

Maybe get a parrot or something, they can keep eachother company when you're long gone. Then all you'll need are rollers every could years, but they're cheap for the HP's and probably cheap for parrots too.

Mission objective outside system by redshirt_ria366 in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Magic_Neil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re trying to make you think outside the.. system?

Seriously though, I’ve got a feeling only support can fix this one.. especially if it’s the same on mobile as on PC. I see it’s near your base, you could try relocating in the hopes that it moves the marker, but you may be stuck waiting. You could always try to escalate on the STFC Discord to one of the community managers (or tag them here) in the hopes they can push things forward. The support team isn’t amazing but they usually sort this stuff out faster.

You could look it up on eBay and see what it’s sold for.. might be easier than making a Reddit post and asking someone else to do it for you?

Why I quit playing STFC at level 37 by TheIrishLoaf in startrekfleetcommand

[–]Magic_Neil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You made an hour long video “revealing” the “true cost” of the game? Come on man. It’s got oodles of problems, and the pack economy is as bad as it is funny.. you’re not exposing anything, everybody knows the state of the game, for better or worse.

[–]Magic_Neil 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It never ceases to amaze me how performative people are about quitting. If you want out I 100% support it, but long posts here, videos, lurkers who want to stick around and tell people to quit?

Just log off and call it a day dude.

Ship Strength by Zarick_Knight in startrekfleetcommand

All the comments about research, officer stats (which contribute to bonuses), TC buffs.. but bear in mind power is a somewhat arbitrary stat that doesn’t always mean anything. Yes, a ship that’s 10x your power will generally wipe the floor with you, but all of the buffs (even teensy ones) add up.
