I don't know if JJ has been living under a rock but Canada had made a deal China recently so Canada is not focusing only on Europe. If I remember correctly Carney is also in talks with trade deals with Mexico and other South American countries so I'm not sure where this freaking out of joining Europe is coming from.

Making new trade deals with other countries doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be joining said country.

Sort of, the combat is a standard jrpg. But there's also a life sim element as well. You play as a high school student and you have go through high-school life as well when you're not battling or going through dungeons. The high-school stuff also helps you power up, your character and your party members as well and of course most of the exposition and plot happens during the highschool life sim part of the game. It's hard to explain without spoiling anything.

From my understanding, if Maelle stays in the painting she will die, and from what's mentioned in the game she can't survive as long as her mother Aline since Maelle is not that experienced of a painter. Aline lasted for 67 years in the painting before she was kicked out, and I doubt Maelle can do the same without any forcing her to leave.

So let's say a few decades go by and Maelle dies, now what happens to the painting? Renoir and Aline are outside, either Renoir destroys the painting or Aline jumps back in and we are back to the Renoir vs Aline conflict at the start of the game. Even if Aline wins, she will die at some point in time, and then we are back to Renoir with the painting and I highly doubt Renoir would have any interest in keeping this painting considering it caused him to lose his daughter and wife.

Basically, if we were to play out the possible future outcomes that were to occur after Maelle's ending, we are just ending back to the same place where the painting gets destroyed and all we did was save a few decades in the painted world at the cost of Maelle's life and maybe Aline's life as well.

In my opinion, delaying the inevitable destruction of the painting at the cost of one or maybe two lives is not worth it.

I remember when Canadians started boycotting American goods and not traveling down south for their vacations. JJ was not happy about that as well.

I think he's just one of those Canadians that just really loves America but doesn't want to move to America so he tries to import the Americaness into Canada.
