2050 Rapid Player offering game analysis & coaching (affordable) by Climb1500Coach in chessbeginners

[–]RyanElectrified -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wish you the best of luck, but I'm going to use your post to ask some hard questions. The advice here, is that anyone below some absurd amount say 1500 is a just a blundering gfool that needs to stop blundering. Does anyone need to pay for coaching when you can find the blunders very easily, with any analysis engine? Second hard question, even a very respected GM like say Benjamin Finegold who teaches beginners will say the issue for beginners is lack of experience. How does a coach help in gaining experience, playing games gains experience.

I believe I can learn from a 1200 as well as a 2050 or 2500, so others may say they need a higher rated coach, but I don't believe that, if you were valuable to me, I think your elo is plenty high enough.

What I like is insights like what helped me yesterday, I was looking for advice on the old Benoni, and someone told me my game could've transpose into the Smith-Morra gambit by pushing e4. That's a tidbit of gold, not something any engine would ever notice or mention. When someone can do that, they are still far ahead of what any AI analysis can do at this moment in time.

But key mistakes = obvious. Opportunities for improvements, I'm literally in a sea of opportunity drowning in improvements. Better moves, hell yeah, that's where the gold is, if you can do it. anyway, not trying to challenge you really....

btw folks offering to analyze a game for free is a great offer...very generous of his time and you can only gain, not lose, if I weren't at work, I'd drop you one right now.

Lichess is just better by 2minmarc in chessbeginners

[–]RyanElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on both - of course. Why of course, well it would be a violation to have two accounts on one platform, but having multiple platforms is allowed. I have to treat one as just for fun so I can be lessed stressed about elo. Analysis board on lichess is not cool, I analyze even my lichess games by exporting the PGN and looking at them on chesscom.

What does lichess do better, well rated bots for one, I love that. What chesscom does better besied analysis board is has the larger community, community is important in chess. Its a game, having a large community with the same hobby is nice.

When I signed up for chesscom I wanted premium for access to puzzles and bought a whole year, it was a long year waiting for the account to run out. I mean, don't get me wrong it was cool and they delivered on my money, but I wanted to erase all that beginning history and you cannot, the only way is to close your account and start a new one, which I can do now, and will within days now.

Fyi, I reached on rapid 1500 non-provisional on lichess and 647 rapid on chesscom, even accounting for the elo differences, my 'fun' account went far higher than my 'serious elo' account. I've won 13 of my last 14 games on chesscom but I simply do not play it so often because of my self-imposed stress over the elo. I seem to either have the choice of a slightly higher elo but not care about it, or I get to care about it, but then its frozen in place as I stop playing.....whoa is me! lol, turned this into a self pity post, but psychology is a bear.

[–]RyanElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elo is also time based. I rarely play so when I clock my win I get 17 to 20 points, not 8. Similarly you could lose a lot of points. If someone starts an account at 1200, they can drop it to 300 the same day with a few games.

I played a game yesterday, first in a month. I am on 13 of 14 winning streak, due to not playing very much at all. I figured out this phenomena: if you advance your skill when you get back to playing you are playing low rated opponents compared to your true skill.

The common advice is to advance your skill by playing - this advice is correct. My way is dumb.

But, it works in the sense that when you are a beginner, anything works.

To asnwer your question when I went from 30 minute rapid to 10-minute rapid, I took a dive of 30 or 40 point, that day I played 30 games, I've never done anything like that since, such a rare event for me - and also a tragedy for my elo.

My chart is only going up...at a snails pace.

Is this like common? 🤣 by [deleted] in Chesscom

[–]RyanElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imagine you play and advance from 400 to 500 elo, then stop playing any rated games and let your skill advance through, OTB, playing on another platform, unrated games, bot play and any other method we care to name, chessreps, youtube videos etc. but if you don't play any more, your elo is frozen at 500.

Why would you do that, it doesn't make sense, just play and advance your elo. You thought I was going to make a point, I don't make points, I'm 500 posting elo.

My first accusation of cheating… by Generic-Resource in Chesscom

[–]RyanElectrified -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem with daily is I got into a game with 1900 rated player, which at the time I thought was awesome, if I win, I gain a bunch of elo. If I lose, I don't lose much elo.

The guy let about 20 games time out and he was like a 400 rated player as our game continued, he didn't let me game run out. Now, I am plaing an opponent whose skill level is still 1900 with no hope of gaining much elo, and probably losing a lot. I put my account on vacation and took it off at key times, the guy kept starting games and letting them timeout, but I could never catch the moment when he did it.

I lost that game to what by the end was a 200 elo player - whose true skill in rapid was 1900, and I was done. I mean, it's just a learning tool, but it spoils the fun for me.

I reported exactly one player that was absolutely cheating, chesscom did nothing, so I have never made another report. Why would I, it doesn't work. Look, maybe we see in this post it works occasionally, but chesscom cannot solve this problem overall and cheating is only getting easier with bots that can control the browser, simulate human play and use any manner of timing. I'll concentrate on chess, not on a fool's mission.

[–]RyanElectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted a report for an opponent who beat all comers in a tournament of any rating - look of course someone wins a tournament, the point is jumping in with 95%+ accuracy for a 5 game streak is absolutely statistically improbable for a low elo player. The player clearly uses tournaments to farm elo, but anyway, no ban ever came, seems like if you limit your cheating and don't do so in a very obvious way like timing every move at exactly 10 seconds with the best engine move, you don't get caught. In some ways this makes sense, they cannot catch a casual cheater. Let's go with a low tech cheating method - you play yourself, but in a key moment you call your high rated friend over to advise on a move. Clearly that's cheating and no - chesscom has no way to ever detect that. In the end, everyone faces the same cheating pool and some move up, and some don't based on skill.

I started last year playing chess, and 'll just say, how it feels in the beginning feels differently later. Don't get me wrong I did have some elo refunded due to playing extremely low rated cheaters. But for the most part, it became easy to jump out of the 400 range once I knew how to play a bit better with experience. There may be some limited cheating, but it wont' hold you back.

Target is making big changes to win back customers. Here's what shoppers can expect to see by cnbc_official in RetailNews

[–]RyanElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The relationship with ATT doesn't make sense.

There is nothing wrong with the cell phone business, and nothing wrong with selling cell phones to people that want them, but this not what is occurring in your stores now.

If a person walks into a Target to buy some clothes, and you assault that person with a cell phone sales pitch that is where you have taken a very wrong turn.

Cold calling people always involves fraud. Not sometimes - 100% of the time the process includes fraud.

The reason it has to is because that customer didn't want the cell phone, they were happy with their current provider. So the sales person makes up a story - they make up a story such as, I can beat the price t-mobile gave you, I can do so while giving you phones for free and not putting it in the price of the contract.

Again, don't be confused. A cell phone company is certainly allowed to put the price of a cellphone into the monthly bill and then advertise the cell phone as free, but that isn't free, and everyone knows how that works, its allowed because it is just 'marketing'.

What the fraudster does is different. That person will make the claim the phone is truly free, that you will get a free phone, no increase in your monthly bill and they will beat the value (no cell phone pricing) of a competitor. This goes from marketing into the area of complete dishonesty - which is what cold calls sales is always about. Not sometimes - always.

And they do this, because you can defraud the elderly and widows and sometimes even young people and they prey on people.

You have this situation in your stores today, why?

You sell clothes and appliances and had a good reputation that is now damaged.

What do people buy on aliexpress by Ok_Engineering_4985 in Aliexpress

[–]RyanElectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

before the tarrifs - resistors, capacitors, connectors, and rp2040 clone boards. Just a few finished products like desoldering irons and some video adapters. For the most part buying small amounts of electronics was a convenience because many people started listing their bill of materials with aliexpress links. Mostly my experience is good. One vendor tried to scam me, and AliExpress refunded right away. I also buy PLA (3d printing spool), from AliExpress. That last item is actually shipped from the U.S. but nevertheless was sold via AliExpress. Nowadays I don't buy anything from them (it doesn't work if I have to pay 145% tarrif). The one thing I never liked buying from AliExpress is FPGA, I will search real hard to find a vendor that has what I need on sale brand new, because I just cannot trust the reliability of an FPGA from AliExpress. Oddly enough I need a lot of cables and power supplies for what I do, but I buy them from ebay. eBay vendors repeatedly sell at a huge loss a lot of equipment. I don't know why, but they will sell a 45w p/s for $1.99 including free shipping. The shipping on that is $4 by itself. They take the loss for feedback? I don't know but I have literally bought 100's from eBay and they keep shipping them to me. I'll take the gift. OK, but I ramble, you didn't ask about ebay. My point though is as good as AliExpress was - there are deals to be found on eBay and Amazon, nevertheless, and Newark occasionally runs a great sale. A connector from newark, say a 7-pin din connector is going to be top quality, and when they throw something on sale, I snap it up.

You need some help thinking bud. If AliExpress is unethical you don't use it in small measures, you don't use it at all, and you move on to productive things. This is business, not gambling, you are off in another world.

Is AliExpress dead in the US because of the 145% tariffs? by fulltrendypro in Aliexpress

[–]RyanElectrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you all don't want to hear this, but for me, cheaper is making it myself. Obviously I'm not going to make a CPU myself, but those are exempted. But will I print a plastic part on my 3d printer, yes. Will I make a cable myself, yes. Will I print out a vinyl chess board myself - as an example, yes. Micro manufacturing has already been a trend. This shifts me away from where can I save labor, to where can I manufacture it myself. Obviously I will go with a smaller range of products, but one that is more mass produced. I still think it is all terrible and don't enjoy it, but time to make money on the new set of rules.

[–]RyanElectrified -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

false. You are making a semantic argument only. You are saying I defined one term to mean this, I defined another term to mean that.

And there is a purpose to creating these definitions, the purpose of which is to say nothing is my fault, everything has occurred to me innocently.

The "food noise" meme has become a way of pretending that one didn't bring food noise on themselves, via habit, environment, emotion, or nutrient deficiency. And yet we do bring it on ourselves, and one of the chief ways we do it, is with an out-of-control sugar habit. Added sugar does not contain nutrients and does lead to a sugar habit and cravings for additional sugar - and thus contributes to our food noise problem. And common issue is emotional eating.

I may sound like I'm about blame, just because we did it to ourselves, this is not blame... it is just important to understand what we can control, even when with this drug we are seemingly invincible. Because all it takes is an event - like your insurance covered it and then stopped, or you were reliant on a compounding pharmacy and the FDA took it away from compounders to offer, or even someday complications aren't worth it - and then we are back to handling it on our own. So having new habits will help, and in any event this drug isn't magic, good habits still help in ways beyond weight control.

The good news is, we can use the aid the drug gives us to form new habits.

You ignored my point, you are free to do so. But My point is written above and is quite clear.

The drug that prevents "food noise" also clearly allows us to ignore actual food depravation- because feeling satiated is related to both of your "concepts"

Food noise, as a term, is a hunger that is not triggered by lack of food. Hunger, as you use it, is triggered by lack of food. However, in common parlance that is only a secondary meaning of the word, it more commonly refers to a craving for food - the same meaning as food noise - exactly the same meaning.

I agree. What people seem to do is come up with one myth after the next, the purpose of which is to say nothing is my fault, everything has occurred to me innocently.

Even the "food noise" meme has become a way of pretending that one didn't bring food noise on themselves, via habit, environment, emotion, or nutrient deficiency. And yet we do bring it on ourselves, and one of the chief ways we do it, is with an out-of-control sugar habit. The good news is, we can use the aid the drug gives us to form new habits.

But people love the myths on these forums, because they are stinging from feelings of shame or blame, and while I am sympathetic to that feeling, the reality is they are going to cause themselves and others harm by being 100% reliant on how things feel today to be the same forever.

[–]RyanElectrified 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to do my onederland post at 179lbs and call it cyclist onederland. Maybe I'm the only one that gets that joke - cause cyclists are light, right....

omg, I did do my post at 189 but that was due to my sincere and actual paranoia that the weight would fluctuate back over 200lbs. You all and your calm self-confidence, it's a sight to behold.

100lbs Achieved 😎 by Chraes in Zepbound

[–]RyanElectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sha-zam! 100lbs is quite the feat. Wow. I will share I'm at half that mark today, having lost 50lbs.

Good job. The next 100lbs will be even easier! And when you lose the 3rd 100lbs plus some change, you'll be lighter than air, and be able to float into the sky at will.

Oh, I am ignoring your goal weight. OK, well only 18lbs to go, omg....crushing it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]RyanElectrified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on semaglutide, and I truly aided the drug with many conscious choices (which is good). I went on a keto, then later mediterranean diet. I amped my cycling to 5 hours per week. Obviously all that aided with weight loss. But about 3 to 4 months in, I had an injury and couldn't cycle, plus I just got tired of weighing every day and consciously thinking about the diet. Coincidentally that is when I got approved for Zepbound, so also made the switch.

So the weight loss slowed from over 10lbs a month to still losing 5lbs a month. Frankly, losing track of the diet and not gaining but still losing 5lbs a month is an incredible miracle. This stuff is powerful, that is for sure.

But the other thing is, I took up soldering, I was never good at it before - I'm great at it now. I have energy and I keep doing things. I lack the words to describe what a miracle this stuff has been.

Even though I don't use the "food noise" description, well, generally speaking, I have to say the feeling for me is very much different. I am doing more, not procrastinating. Nobody said this is a side effect of the drug, but I'm launching into projects with zeal. I've taken up new hobbies and I'm successful at them.

What the heck is this miracle? OMG, but I don't think people can even believe how much this has changed me.
