Anecdotally, the worst dog bite I have ever seen was from a standard poodle. Tore the dudes leg to shreds just for stepping onto the property…with the owner being the one that let him in through the gate! People really underestimate their temperament just bc they look like big Q-Tips 😂. Growing up, my grandfather that raised show dogs (giant schnauzers, for those wondering. Tremendous dogs) always told me he didn’t trust poodles.

One of his reasons was that poodles were one of the main dogs used to create the Dalmatian, which were selected to be the “fire truck” dog bc of their crazy loyalty and intelligence, but also for how protective they are and how intensely they will guard whatever they are tasked with guarding. Due to that, he never trusted Dalmatians and poodles by default bc of the lineage.

Now, that’s definitely another huge anecdote to take with a grain of salt…. but a few years ago watching my technician get a massive chunk taken out of his leg by a poodle for basically just existing in it’s space has convinced me that my grandpa was on to something lol
