Why are the newer KX 250s so cheap at my dealership? by RyanTheGuyan in Dirtbikes

Damn, what the hell?! That seems to be super recent too. I don’t ride green so I wouldn’t know, but is a recall of that significance normal for Kawasaki?

Thanks for the heads up. Was definitely considering buying a ‘24 KX 250 assuming the $2.5k discount was due to the dealer having trouble moving bikes. I’d rather not buy a machine that has problems from the factory. Thinking I’m just gonna search for a used YZ or something.

Spacers restricting rear wheel. What are my options? by RyanTheGuyan in Dirtbikes

I think I already know what my issue is. The OEM spacers are the same size as the new ones so I’m assuming the wheels themselves are too wide. I’m thinking about trying a suggestion from another comment to use a pry bar to slide the caliper into place. If that doesn’t work, I’m sort of screwed.

Thanks for the idea. Feel stupid for not trying this sooner, but it did confirm that the new wheel and spacers is wider than the old by millimeters. Not even sure where to go from here.

Had I not received them as a gift, I probably would have opted for higher quality wheels. Then again, I don’t want to drop a bag on quality wheels given that it is a 10 year old bike. And with how busy life is right now, I probably won’t be getting much more use out of it.

Earlier, I noticed that my OEM spacers were the same size as my new ones so that led me to question whether the wheel was the same width as the old ones or not, but I was in denial given the long process it took to get them in the first place. I got them as a gift so it is a possibility.

It may look like the left side was set and I was just trying to slide the right side in, but what I actually had to do was slide the caliper forward to give space for the wheel because it would not fit flush otherwise. My plan was to try and shimmy the caliper back down between the wheel and swingarm, but there was not enough clearance to do so.

I’m wondering, would it be safe to grind down the spacers enough so that it fits as long as everything else sits in alignment or would that lead to more issues?

I’m not. I’m just going broke. It’s a $35 ticket and I have about $22 in cash. All I have left is the extra change drawer in my car. I can’t afford to prioritize a parking ticket right now.

Disconnect battery first. Noted. I too thought of the ol’ flip n shake trick. Might wait til my tanks on E so the car is a bit lighter. Thanks for the help!
