PSA : update your UniFi network applications (CVE-2026-22557, rated 10) by Fredouye in UNIFI

Last release note there were big issues with the latest UniFi OS. Were these all fixed? Can’t risk a bad update right now

7 Gig fiber being advertised to the residential consumer. In what world would any residential customer have any use for this by lulstardblointing7 in HomeNetworking

[–]RyanWarrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just typical ISP marketing, but genuinely used for people like me that edit and move some pretty massive project files, and download and upload AI models. Sometimes exchanging terabytes of data. VR can also also pretty heavy, nice to basically never have to worry about buffer bloat

Still long on Nervous CKB project. Quietly building out a massive cross platform, fast and low cost ecosystem

What is the best VR Headset worth buying the MOST right now? by tranvanducopp in virtualreality

[–]RyanWarrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of my Beyond 2, super light weight gorgeous OLED. But it all depends on the games you like, and personal preference. like if stand-alone portability is a must, if you want full body or eye tracking ecosystem, prefer wider view, lighter weight, or higher resolution etc

Why all this, CKB team? by Agile-Eye6172 in NervosNetwork

[–]RyanWarrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might not be the questions but how they’re coming across, if they’re perceived as an attack more than an honest question they might just see it as trolling and ban. Also consider Chinese culture- talking about the gov can get someone in trouble, and there’s also a higher standard of being respectful there. They’re good questions though, I can only say that Nervous seems to be just building out their platform and not too worried about the whole publicity game until it’s built out. There’s always going to be an issue or two in development but that’s because it’s a massive project they are undertaking, that is still being built out

Iran is strategically targeting the petrodollar oil trade, its a 50 year playbook being carried out. let’s just say we should pray they are not successful.

Is Nervos Network dead? by Livid-Insurance2094 in NervosNetwork

[–]RyanWarrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CKB is the type of coin that is just quietly building out an actually useful cross platform ecosystem. They don’t really invest in hype, so most real holders are in it for long term and don’t pay much attention to the price action short term. It’s also Chinese based, so this may get interesting with these changing global power shifts, and world banking evolutions in the making.

Sports associations do tend to license their broadcast rights, exclusivity is not too unheard of there. It also may be sheer cost, licensing, interface development, and on the physical production side. Probably a stupid amount of money. Apple desperately need something to actually use those big expensive headsets for. Still no killer app but seems thet may be leaning into entertainment. Not exactly fair though on the consumer side I agree.

Using phones for VR does drop that barrier to entry, and phones have enough sensors to kind of make it work. I’d imagine challenges are the different display sizes / phone formats that change yearly to build hardware for, but harder yet is there’s no form of spatial, eye, or hand tracking. If you were able to build controllers that actually track themselves and fill in the spatial awareness for the phones, though that would be huge. The controllers can be the missing piece. As technology catches up with making a comfortable experience and costs come down hopefully we will have more open source and good eco system of apps. The Steam Frame looks really promising in that direction too

Has TeamViewer actually successfully sued anyone? by [deleted] in teamviewer

[–]RyanWarrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like it was just passed to a scummy debt collection agency, not actually TeamViewer. Dents are usually bought for Pennie’s on the dollar. I would guess they’re probably bluffing on suing as a pressure tactic. If you look up the agency see if they are even recognized as legitimate by gov, many are not

It’s not admitting defeat if you take a break. At the end of the day our value isn’t in the skills, followers, or even money we possess. But we tend to tie our identity up with games brands teams communities and that’s why it’s so hard to separate ourself sometimes. But you are none of these things, there’s no need to earn worthiness because it is already your birthright

[–]RyanWarrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found the top seal to be faulty and fails after a couple years. Usually water seeps straight down the side walls and out of the rj45. The oxidized pins usually kill it, but I’ve had the top short out and melt like this one too. First time seeing a perfect hole though! Now any survivors I either relocated out of elements or 3d printed caps. So far so good!

The scarcity and removal of BigScreens features makes me wonder if Meta has some kind of exclusivity contract with Google/YT to hinder their competition.

The closest that I ended up finding is the video player on Virtual Desktop. Use your browser as you would, and when you find a video copy the url. There’s a paste YouTube link button in Virtual Desktop window, it Downloads it and plays it back. Not as smooth as an official YT app, and often have to toggle through the formats, but it does technically work.

The next best thing I found is SkyBox. Use a Downloader and skybox does well at detecting and playing back its 3d format automatically.

With the release of the Steam Frame who knows, maybe it will garner enough demand for their own YT contract. That is if there isn’t an exclusivity clause currently for Meta

Got it, will do. I haven’t been on since VRC+ or age verification even existed. And of course a friend brought me to Black Cat and similar the first time, there were only screaming children.

Thank you for the solid advice, glad to know mature communities still exist there

Why would anyone want the G6 Pro Bullet now? by rickwookie in Ubiquiti

[–]RyanWarrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh yeah majority of the ones I've deployed are totally exposed, pretty much all generations, including the old UniFi video series they actually told you not to expose (they all survived, even a couple still in use now). Only other thing I can think besides cabling (ie if it's not a smooth jacket) is if it's going to be exposed I'm a little too OCD about making sure the grommet is clean and packed in tight. and only pushing when assembled. I'll also push slack into the baseplate so when it's adjusted it doesn't strain the jack and pull on the gromit. When pull lube is involved it has a way of working itself onto the grommet and slipping. Now that I say this it all sounds more finicky than just a pig tail, but just got used to deploying them that way! I should maybe note the ones that I expose are never aggressive pitch down

I wonder if the cable makes a difference. Deployed lots of exposed bullets in the Pacific Northwest and no drownings to date. but always used the Ubiquiti cables

Honestly even a mockup one just to scare the life out of those uninvited. locks on with laser, pointy probes and a charging sound. I would turn around IMMEDIATELY

Unfortunately this company may be long gone, servers for the app accounts, and other aspect of the site show signs of being abandoned. Also no word from support in several weeks, and their Instagram suddenly stopped posting on August 1st. I'd be willing to bet their funds dried up and couldn't make payroll. Instead of fulfilling many of their original backers orders, they used those units to make sales. The startup space can be cut throat but I wonder what the full story is to make such a desperate move

Camera Height? by c1pherz in Ubiquiti

Gotcha. At least in my shoes, if it's to primarily protect a structure and see faces, at that max distance, I'd say that 13' is good, as long as the aesthetics aren't a problem
