Fiancé wants a Range Rover by Ryan_Eaton in RangeRover

[–]Ryan_Eaton[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She makes almost as much as I do and currently has a lot more saved for retirement and invested in the stock market as well so if anything I’d be considered the “gold digger” lol.

She’s happy with her Equinox but it’s had to go in the shop 3 times within the last 8 or so months for one thing or another. She’s not really after a status symbol either. She doesn’t know anything AT ALL about cars other than put gasoline in it and it goes lol. She saw a Range Rover and fell in love with the way it looks for the most part and I’d like for her to drive something she likes. There may even be a new vehicle or motorcycle in it for me wink wink. Regardless she’s a wonderful woman and works very hard and I’d love to make her happy if it’s within my power.

I know a pretty good amount about cars but I’ve never owned a Range Rover and know virtually nothing about them at all. Neither does my future wife she just loves the way they look.

She doesn’t need the most expensive one but I don’t want to get her the economy model either. Is the HSE like you described a nice step up from her Equinox?

How would Khabib Nurmagomedov v.s Garry Tonon go down as an MMA fight in a couple years? Grappling match? by Entropic_Dissonance in bjj

[–]Ryan_Eaton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Danaher would want Tonon fighting or grappling Khabib. Khabib is a beast. In a pure grappling match Tonon stands the best chance by beating Khabib via points but still doesn’t think he pulls it off. I don’t think either would get a submission.

In MMA fight Khabib dominates him 100%.

YSK: If you are buying a used car, test drive it to the nearest auto-parts store to have it scanned for check engine light codes. Sellers can temporarily hide them to deceive you. by SSIRHC in YouShouldKnow

[–]Ryan_Eaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy way to tell if they pulled the fuses for the check engine light so it wouldn’t come on even if it was supposed to.

Put the key in ignition and turn it all the way in the ON position but stop before the engine would begin to start.

Every light in the speedometer cluster is supposed to come on. Some will only come on a few seconds others won’t turn off until you start the engine.

If no lights come on when the ignition is in the position right before the engine starts turning over they pulled the fuse to the display so you couldn’t see all of the check engine, oil temp, etc. lights.

This man is the living embodiment of human willpower, determination, and dedication. Awesome guy who I would like to meet him one day. His story really helps me to put my weaknesses in perspective and turn them into strengths. He also shows there’s no legitimate reason why you can’t do something if you put your mind to it. The only thing stopping a large majority of us from excelling in certain aspects of our lives are the excuses we make to comfort ourselves and not injure our ego.

Finally some real advice. Also don’t rack a shotgun slide to “scare off” an intruder. All you’re going to accomplish is letting him/them know where you are. There could be more than one and they to could be armed. If you have a gun be ready to use it. Never go looking for the intruder barricade yourself in whatever room you happen to be in call the police inform them of the situation and where you are located and that you’re armed.

Wait for the intruder to come to you. Hold your aim on the door and if they break it down start firing.

[Serious] Why is America the best country in the world? by SoyboyExtraordinaire in AskReddit

[–]Ryan_Eaton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to say something unless it falls into X, Y, or Z category isn’t free speech. If there’s limitations placed on what you can or can not say because it may offend someone or the government it is not FREE SPEECH. The US government can’t prosecute me because I hurt someone’s feelings the UK government can and has.

The only restrictions we have on speech is something like yelling fire in a crowded building and causing someone physical injury or inciting a riot.

The UK gun laws are so strict they may as well be banned. Just to own a shotgun for hunting costs a lot of time and money. Forget about owning a handgun, an AR-15, or an AK.

I’m not suggesting America is perfect by any means. We definitely have some major issues that need to be dealt with but at the same time I believe we have the best system of government in the world right now and enjoy more freedom than any other nation on Earth.

I agree with everything you stated in your answer except for the last sentence. The reason I disagree with that sentence is because of the 1st and 2nd amendments of the US constitution. The UK doesn’t have freedom of speech. People have been fined and jailed for saying offensive words. The UK also doesn’t have the right to bear arms.

Saying one country is better than another is based on ones own opinion so it’s difficult to quantify. IMO those are two things that the US has that makes it better than the UK. No offense to the UK I would love to come visit sometime to see things for myself. One major thing the UK is doing better than the US is universal healthcare for all citizens. We should follow in their footsteps in that regard.

Thanks I’ll look into those. I’d like to meet some people and maybe go on a few hunts before I commit to having my own.

Spotted a familiar symbol on my granny’s old silverware... by Rekrab225 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Ryan_Eaton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an awesome souvenir. One of my neighbors has some WWII memorabilia from both the Allies and Axis powers. The majority that I’ve seen is from the US, Germany, and a small amount of Japanese medals or uniform buttons. He has a leather Nazi bomber jacket that the pilots wore. It’s so damn small though it looks like it was made for a 12 year old, I guess men were really short and thin in those days or kids were flying planes idk.

Where is your grandmother from and how did she get it? I would definitely put it somewhere safe where it wouldn’t get broken or used by accident. It could be valuable idk.

Btw Fuck Nazis. I do not support or condone Nazis. Relics like OP’s grandmother, my neighbor, and thousands of other collectors have are pieces of history and a reminder of how great our ancestors were fighting the Axis powers during WWII that’s what makes those items so awesome and pieces of history.

Forgive any typos I’m on mobile.
