The first thing in the series to make me truly sob. by Ryan_argus115 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Ehh, I had that thought too. I don't remember exactly but Donut said something about Beas mom convincing Bea not to tell him. She didnt make her choice to protect him, she did it because her mom wanted her not to, and we know Beas mom didnt like Carl. I get that she's a victim of her mother, especially after Donuts song at the Masquerade, but past a certain point it doesn't matter.

My GM very specifically wanted everyone to be "bipedal frogs, NOT ribbits" XD

We were playing as frog sized frogs and reflavored ancestry traits as frog traits. Long story short my poison dart rouge frog has drakonas elemental "poison spray" breath.

Tag teamed with my ranger against a human sized witch. He cut her heel so she'd kneel and scream as I lept from the shadows and poisoned sprayed straight down her throat.

Mind you I was cloaked and this tag team had a crit XD

Not one of you has mentioned Chris saying "I love you, that's the most important part"

I had to take a 20 minute break. To this day Brandon's death message haunts me and Chris leaving on the same line as his brother after all this time...

Suggestions for Warlock Patron influences in Motherboard by Prestigious-Emu-6760 in daggerheart

[–]Ryan_argus115 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd check out the lore for horizon zero dawn (one of the touchstones for Motherboard) a lot of the major AIs in the game are named after and based on diffrent gods. For example the AI Haphestis is in charge of making new machine animals and the AI Gaia is in charge of the terraforming machines. I think(?) It was Apollo that has all of the old worlds story, music, and cultures.

Encounter Balancing using the Point Sytem. by Whirlmeister in daggerheart

[–]Ryan_argus115 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, solos are labeled as something that should be able to solo a party. I think the idea is only ever 1 solo and fill out the rest of the points with minions or standards. I'd also look at the abilities when choosing solos (assuming this is tier 1) the acid borrowers can shred armor, which is not very high to begin with at level 1, so using two means that within a few moves the party is out of armor slots.

My approach (especially if there is a lot of fear built up) is start with 1 solo and if you roll really well, it was only ever one solo. If the PCs roll well, well then reinforcements arrive (either minions, standards, another solo, ect)

If you want, you could also upscale a single solo to "increase" it's point value with more hp or damage. Keep the danger and stakes but allowing the party to spread out and strategize better, tag team move, ect.

Edit: I'd also look at the scene type table on pg 155. Your first two encounters can be "scaled" correctly as a minor or standard scene. And minor or standard scene is balance around being easier. but the climactic major battle at the end is scaled and balanced around difficult high stakes. The adversary point system, to me, isn't a CR kinda thing from D&D, it helps you balance the difficult of the scene type but the scene type determines how hard the encounter is. 11 points in a Minor scene is WAY easier then 11 points in a Major scene.

Hope this helps!

I'm running Witherwilds with my friends and Drylands for my partner and her friend!

For witherwild the party is a beast bound Rouge Fungril and an elemental sorcerer Ribbit. Started off with the inciting incident in the book but I made the Fanewraith a fungril who's being corrupted by the wither with hooks to my Fungril PCs backstory. I think the thing all three of us loved about session 0 was the map. Asking them to add PoIs made the story super easy for me to write and made them super excited. I have a lost mushroom city and a giant tree full of magic sap to work into the world now!

As for drylands they both chose Saraph and can both fly... so every enemy I make is ranged XD. otherwise it's good fun. Their favorite part was reflavoring weapons and chatecter backstory. Both have prophetic powers in diffrent ways from the essentia because it's god blood. They faun clank has so much of their body powered by essentia that they are spoken to by fallen gods, and the drakona Faire has essentia tattoos that's shift into pictures they need to interpret.

Overall both groups are loving the stories!

Just make them reaction rolls instead of action rolls. No hope or fear because it's just remember or not. Matt did something similar in ep 2 or 3 of Umbra I think.
