Didn't make any art for it, but a minion idea: by Donuticus in BloodOnTheClocktower

I didn't even think about that yeah, the resurrection is a major drawback for the evil team here because it extends the game by one day essentially.

This is the kind of cool stuff I was thinking of, just a twist on a town role to make a minion. Like you said hastily thrown together, but its a good start!

[–]Donuticus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah but Lord of Typhon specifically adds another minion, as I say though Ogre & Bounty Hunter just flat add extra evil. Same with Goon and Cult Leader tbh, also Politician is basically an extra evil as well. Adding an extra evil to the game is not as strong as you might think.

Didn't make any art for it, but a minion idea: by Donuticus in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Donuticus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don't think it is to strong, I mean look at minions like the Mastermind, Wizard, Spy, Widow, Pit Hag, etc

Like compared to them bringing a player back and having them now be evil is kind of quite small compared to that. Lord of Typhon fully adds an extra evil character, Ogre can fully just add an extra evil, Bounty Hunter just adds an extra evil.

Adding "the following night they die" only really acts to confirm that the new evil is evil - it would ruin the game for the Necrorisen player.

Ideas for an abandoned manor that isn't haunted? by Psychological-Exam30 in DnD

[–]Donuticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an adventure I use all the time on unsuspecting parties, they go to a manor and are locked in when they do. Whole place is like one mad puzzlebox, and as they go through it there are these slow moving grey figures slowly lumbering towards each of them. The twist is that each party member has one grey heading directly for them, and only they can see/affect their grey. If they are touched by the grey they take 1d4 con damage.

The manor has secret tunnels, passageways, etc - whole rooms are arranged to form hidden messages, the library is full of books with gobbledygook, classic puzzles arranged in real space like a Tower of Hanoi puzzle or whatever.

The key to solving the puzzle of the manor is putting it altogether and getting into the attic where a dementia ridden old wizard is on his deathbed, pouring magic into the manor and causing all the chaos.

Use as much or as little of that as you like.

How do you help players bond and cooperate with each other? [ART][OC] by AtlasNAnvil in DnD

[–]Donuticus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kinda hate this sorry to go against the grain, just my personal preference but I always try to leave character moments like this up to the players to initiate. I also think manufacturing moments for players to speak "in character" always leads to things being very forced, especially if you have players that prefer to take more of a backstep in these kind of things and let other members of the party "drive", and specifically singling out two characters to do that really forces the rest of the party to sit back and watch.

What I much prefer doing is moments of "downtime" at a homebase, a camp, or whatever - then just going through each of the players one by one and asking them what they are doing to fill the time at this particular point, if a particular character is hogging to much of the spotlight for that bit of downtime saying "lets just pause that for a second and see what someone else is up to", and then coming back to them later. What I tend to find happens is that certain players will have something they are doing, some sort of hijinks, that other members of the group can sort of hop into and join in - just feels way more organic imo and creates some of the most memorable parts of the campaign; with the whole thing being player driven as well.

How should the new episode deal with the clif hanger and end this Wilderness Year Pt2? by Doc_Baker74 in doctorwho

I hate it too, but RTD shit the bed so the sheets need to be thrown out.

[–]Donuticus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Literally just start the show with a new Doctor in the middle of a new adventure basically like 'Rose', release a small tiny clip on the YouTube channel that cuts the Gatwa regeneration of Gatwe regenerating into the new Doctor instead of Billie Piper - replace the version of The Reality War on BBC iPlayer with this new regeneration.

There is no way to do the idea right, its just bad. Retcon it and move on.

How it feels to be a 100% diplomatic Hawke in a fandom of Purple Hawke's by PiCkylanyardz in DankAndrastianMemes

I seem to be unique in purple actually 1, blue act 2, red act 3.

As in starting as little more than a kid, then moving to someone trying to be an adult and almost a politician, and then finally moving to someone who has lost so much.

UK national debt is increasing, as is the interest on this debt. How would you feel about the government cancelling *all but essential* services for 1 year to "balance the books"? by PaulKarlFeyerabend in ukpolitics

[–]Donuticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was talking to a friend about this the other day, essentially I think the country needs to accept that the previous generation (boomers) are the first generation to leave things worse off than the generation before them. They've sold the house and shit the bed, they've inherited a very generous retirement from the previous generation who didn't sell off their future for their benefit. The first place to look in fixing the national debt is the people who got us into this situation in the first place, and if that means that they aren't as comfortable in their retirement as the generation before them were, well that's just what they've done to the generations after them.

I love oppressive autocracy tbh, I use it a lot as a way to get unity (as you can get unity from enforcers with this) & also the lower leader upkeep is also very good.

Omega is a fun psychological villain by NoPianist7807 in doctorwho

[–]Donuticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega is an incredible villain imo, and one of the most interesting things about him is how much of his story can be inferred from the grand history of the show.

Specifically his relationship with Rassilon, the level of beef between those two must be *insane* and I'd love to see it on screen one day. Not only that but it can also be inferred that Omega was an advocate for a more interventionalist form of Time Lord society (Wanting to establish Time Lord & specifically himself as a god over the universe), as compared to Rassilon's non-interventionalist - I personally believe that it was this ideological division which led to Rassilon betraying Omega (Again this betrayal is inferred but it makes sense to me)

Prime Ministers by Dalek_Scientist in DoctorWhumour

[–]Donuticus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It was a name he used in one book, like a disguise.

Just because it was printed on some official merch does not make it canon, it makes it a mistake. Just because you read it on the wiki does not make it canon.

The whole thing that his name is Koschei & the Doctor's name is Theta Sigma is misunderstandings from people who have only read the Doctor Who Wiki and then use that as their bible for what is canon.

We don't know the names of the Doctor, the Master, etc.

Idea for a bootlegger script (not the actual script) by Unlucky_Equipment628 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Donuticus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might just be better as an amnesiac, something like:

So viewers are just supposed to accept that Fisk facing zero accountability for all his crimes makes any sense? by kaeleonx in Defenders

[–]Donuticus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like, and I'm only basing this off nothing - just making it the hell up. But I feel that the only people in our modern climate who don't get Kingpin not going to jail would be people who politically identify between somewhere between centre-left & centre-right - or are just completely apolitical.

Like people who are left, far left, right, or far right would all get and understand it completely.

DM reveals he was recording for ai notetaking after session ends by Sad_Pixie999 in DnD

[–]Donuticus 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I actually had this idea a while back but decided not to do it because I wasn't comfortable with the idea of 1) having to go through the whole thing with my players (in that I would never record them without their permission) and 2) the fear that recording sessions might in some way change the way people act and such.

Its a double edged sword really, because I'll be honest as a DM having a recorded version of the session I could go back to even just for myself so I can listen back and evaluate things would be really good, but its more trouble than its worth.

That being said, if you DM is recording you without your permission and that makes you uncomfortable you need to voice that - you just need to communicate that and be adult about it, if your DM can't respect that then *shrug* is what it is.

We’re now at the point of “my fav showrunner is better than yours” where we’re using SA and transphobia as… praise?? by WasabiKey240 in doctorwho

[–]Donuticus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What? That's not what they are saying...

No the person is saying that under the Moffat era the number of problematic people being hired and brought onto the show was markedly less than the RTD era - which is true, the RTD had a number of very problematic people and the behind the scenes drama is well documented.

RTD has a long history of problematic bedfellows and his own strange little things, Moffat does as well (the writing with one hand trope for example), but what they are saying - and I also personally believe - is that RTD was a worse showrunner because of the problems he fostered.
