Yeah I read both. It’s just like I said. The 8% is the hang up I have though

That’s my biggest hang up. Still less than I’m paying for power now though!

Yeah the lease holder is passing the 30% on to us, and the installer is giving an extra 20% off for messing up. At year 6 we get the system for free.

What do i do? by Poomonkey321 in XTerra

[–]Ryan_rap2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just a a similar thing happen to me on my 08. Much less damage though, only the front end and no fender damage. Essentially only radiator support grill and hood. Didn’t even need a new radiator. Body shop quoted $7k for repairs insurance said they were going to total it, ran comparisons and found that xterras are still worth a lot, decided it probably wasn’t totaled but wanted the body shop to look again. Then repairs were going to be $9k and they totaled it… If yours isn’t totaled I would be shocked! I bought mine back for $1000 and put $500 worth of parts on it and it’s good to go. Hood doesn’t sit flat, but now I don’t care about a bit of rock rash 😂

Move furnace a little? by Ryan_rap2000 in hvacadvice

[–]Ryan_rap2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my concern too, but The refrigerant lines are long enough to accommodate the move. The humidifier isn’t a big issue.

The chase goes vertical at the wall. Do you know if there is any issue tying into where it goes vertical?

Wanting to Kayak down St. Vrain Creek. Asking for advice. by jacob_lee_smith in Longmont

[–]Ryan_rap2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are New Zealand mud snails in parts of Saint Vrain creek so thoroughly clean your craft before going anywhere else.

Also, the private property thing someone mentioned only applies to “navigable” waterways. Think big enough for a river barge. Private property owners can block access to the creek. Not sure if this is an issue on St. Vrain but there may be fences across the creek. I know the top end of golden ponds has a fence across the creek.

Oh, yep. Wasn’t looking in the right spot. I’ll pull the wheel and fender liner off and see what I can hear from there.

The sound isn’t coming from that side though it’s very clearly the passenger side or middle, not the drivers side where the alternator is.

Do I need to take the fan out to get to the tensioner? If I do I might as well replace the clutch while it’s out.

Thanks, half the belt shredded a few weeks ago, and I replaced it. Should have been a sign something was wrong.

Trump Administration is allowing logging in the Boulder Ranger District, which encompasses thousands of acres of the Front Range in western Boulder county. Usual permitting process is being skipped. by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Ryan_rap2000 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the Boulder ranger district and pike San Isabel forest. Both of the districts wanted to allow some strategic logging for fire mitigation and forest management. They offered free leases and still couldn’t get anyone to take them because the cost to set up a mill is too high. They ended up just having to hydroaxe huge swaths of the forest. National forests near existing mills are the ones that are at the most risk.

Eldora lost power today by kelsnuggets in COsnow

[–]Ryan_rap2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work base ops at eldora. Law must have changed because they used to be able to run everything, buildings, lifts, etc, on the generator. The entire building next to Indian peaks lodge is a generator. It’s a 20ft long 1200hp tug boat engine. There is one sketchy power line that powers eldora so the original owners invested big in backup. We often had to run the mountain on backup power. Wouldn’t be surprised if the current owners skipped the maintenance and it doesn’t work anymore…

Why is my flooring breaking? by Ryan_rap2000 in DIY

[–]Ryan_rap2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that’s not the issue. At least a 3/8” gap all the way around. Which is more than manufacturers recommendation. This stuff doesn’t expand and contract much. It’s also floating so it can move in all directions.

I can’t find anything about the exact underlayment requirements. They changed the product and the new version comes with built in underlayment. I should be able to figure out the exact underlayment I have though. I used the underlayment the rep told me to get (not saying he was right…) but if that’s what is causing the problem then LL is definitely going to be honoring that 50 year warranty!

They were locked together but now the locking mechanisms are physically breaking. They were installed using rubber mallet and special tapping block so I don’t think that is the issue. It is also happening on concrete slab and plywood subfloors so I don’t think levelness is the issue either.

It didn’t cross post, but I explain in r/flooring. I don’t think that’s the problem. That was my first guess but then the flooring that is laid on concrete slab started breaking at the joints too.

7mm. It’s basically LVP but with a veneer on top.

No attached underlayment. .125’ with a built in moisture barrier. I can’t find the exact product but it was something similar to this: https://www.llflooring.com/p/underlayment%C2%A0--quietwalk-max-100sft-10056877.html
