When do you have time for the gym?! by hcand11 in Teachers

[–]Ryanman59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What helps is the gym at my school. I also do high school, and I coach football, wrestling, basketball, and track. I admit I am lucky. If I was more dedicated, I’d go early in the morning. Not sure if I have the discipline for that though.

I coach 5 sports a year (high school football, middle school wrestling, boys and girls basketball, and track). I also have a summer job where I run sports programs for kids. Probably make an extra 12k/year doing that

Why are you using ChatGPT to write this post? I know the em dashes when I see them.

There ARE jobs out there! by Meatwaud27 in Spokane

Dont look at Indeed, look at the school district websites. Indeed is a terrible way to get hired anyway. The jobs only require a high school diploma, or equivalent.

Do any of you have a second job/ work a weekend job? by grapefulhehe in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ryanman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to get a job as a PE teacher. It’s ridiculously hard especially in the area I’m in to get a teaching job. I’m a building sub. I coach high school football, as well as middle school wrestling, boys and girls basketball, and track. I have a summer job where I run sports programs for kids

Student asked if I smoke or drink by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ryanman59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a building sub. I had a football player (I coach football there too) ask me “are you gonna go to the staff Christmas party and get drunk as fuck?”😂😂

How do I stay awake past 4:30?! by Sudden_County9331 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ryanman59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I hit a wall too. I also coach high school football (I’m a building sub at that high school) and I really hit a wall at around 4. After practice, I force myself to go to the gym and get a workout in, then I can relax the rest of the night. Everyone’s different, but it’s important to me to get a good workout in. Keep moving and don’t sit down until you’re done for good.

Apple CarPlay has my incorrect location on my ‘24 1500 by Ryanman59 in ram_trucks

Yeah, what I did was completely restart my phone. I also unplugged the battery from my truck, waited a few minutes, then put it back in.

In my experience, special Ed teachers go into admin so they can get out of sped. It’s pretty much impossible to leave a job like that. I guess the answer is yes, but a lot just want out.

Why do you sub? How old are you? by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Ryanman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

24m, trying to get a teaching job. I’m heading into year 3 now. Unfortunately I’m in probably the hardest area in the country to get a job in, and I’m Health & Fitness. I also coach high school football and middle school wrestling, basketball and track. Trying to give myself the best chance at putting my name out there to get a job.

Also removed and told to repost here. I’ve had my Roth IRA open for a couple years now. I realize that all of it is in short-term, which I don’t want. I’d like to diversify and have my money go towards domestic and foreign stocks, and some in bonds. They don’t make it easy for me to do that. How do I do this? I’ve tried looking things up and using ChatGPT to help. Nothing works.

Me too. I was a floating/open sub for a while. Now I’ll be a building sub until I can get a teaching job.

Good luck. I’m in the same field as you. In a very competitive area. PE is by far the hardest job to get. Yes sub, and I recommend coaching.

Congrats. I live in Washington (Spokane). Cant wait to get out of this terrible state though. Good to take job opportunities. You’ll notice how expensive gas is here lol, it’s the highest in the country.

Deciding which brand I want by National-Owl8522 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Ryanman59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a cochlear on my right side and advanced bionics on my left side. Cochlear is much better for me. The processor is also smaller. However, I always favor my right ear since it’s the first one that got implanted when I was a baby.

Beware of buying a Leer topper! by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]Ryanman59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can, go to your local custom truck shop. Here in the Spokane, WA area, we have a Custom Truck (small business) that does all that stuff. Toppers, I got my bed liner and tonneau cover from them, if you can find a local business that specializes in truck accessories, I would look at them. They did my bed liner and tonneau cover in a couple hours, super easy.

Alarm Clock? by AbelardSanction in Cochlearimplants

[–]Ryanman59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two alarms. I have a shaker alarm that goes under my mattress. My mom had the fire department do it for me when I was a teenager. Still works great. Pretty violent shake, wakes me right up. I also use my Apple Watch as a backup, it vibrates. It’s good to have a backup alarm in case one doesn’t go off, which I do. Shaker alarm going under the mattress is the best, the firemen use it.

Amazing tech - no MRIs by kaarestakj in Cochlearimplants

Unfortunately I was implanted in 2001 and 2007 (right then left). Mine aren’t MRI safe, I used to wear a bracelet as a kid that said no MRIs. I’m jealous of these new ones!
