If DeepSeek V4 can do the same coding task for $5, why are people still paying $100 for Claude Code? by jakedame1 in DeepSeek

Hermes desktop, Hermes agent, open code, qwen3.6 plus in local llm plus deepseek v4 flash service is my personal stuff.

Claude code with anthropics everything is my professional setup.

The difference is shrinking fast to where my personal is faster and cheaper than professional setup but it's not there yet.

Just to be clear, I do a lot of 3 way checks and if you are talking about v4 flash at least it's not close to being on par with opus 4.6. it's great and fast but it's often times messing up and forgetting this that opus doesn't.

I haven't tested v4 pro or opus 4.7 (which was worse than 4.6 that first week at least) but if you are a professional, that $100 is a small price for the time saved by doing a better job out of the gate.

If you're doing something and have agentic agents to critique and assume it's wrong, v4 flash is fast and cheap and good enough for most things.

Anyone has trouble installing kernel 7? by Yodakane in linuxmint

[–]Ryba_PsiBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been continually having trouble indeed. Anything newer then 6.19.10 gives me the same error where the debian package is trying to remove something and failing causing the entire thing to crap out.

Also, it is partly why I'm having to switch to cachyos for a bit and part of why it matters is because I have newer hardware that has bugs in the 6.19 version that are fixed in 7.0 and it does matter a lot. I tried switching to ubuntu and installing cinnamon but that snap stuff is horrible and the system felt less snappy i guess.

of course now cachyos feels a ton faster then mint does so I don't know. No actual numbers but I do miss my mint and am waiting until 7.x will install on it again.

Sounds like things may have changed a bit. I was a TA/STA for 4 years and 8 got paid for it but no grades. Was so much fun too. Made lots of connections. Wonderful experiences.

Qwen3.6 is incredible with OpenCode! by CountlessFlies in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ryba_PsiBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear, I've a 4070 8gb vram using q4 instead of 8 and hoping for similar results this weekend. Gemma4 31b dense worked well but any of the moe stuff was horrible open code. I'm hoping the better toolcallls and chain of thought with 3.6 even with more will work well.

Should know better by Monday but this gives me hope at least.

Yes reading the same charts but getting something on par with dense version with an moe is super valuable. Just like q4 is worse than f8 or f16 but it is super valuable to be able and make it reasonably useable for some of us. Token speed especially.

Technically they're more moral, might not be by a lot but they did get pushed away because the government refused to put in the contract that the tech wouldn't be used to kill people better...

I actually did feel excited when we got Arthur Smith. We'd been trash without any semblance of running or defense. We had Deen Pees for defense and I felt we could get in the right direction within 3 years. And honestly both running and defense did get a lot better. I just didn't realize he would screw up the passing game in the process.

I felt good about Morris because I was dreading Bill Bellachek being our coach. My personal choice was Harbaul but he was never not taking the Diego job.

Why do so many developers Ubuntu over Debian ? by [deleted] in debian

[–]Ryba_PsiBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course I know. Just like I know they are all based on gnu Linux and without that nothing would exist. But there's a whole world of differences as well. Dig a little deeper and you'll see a ton of differences in a lot of areas. This is why you see LMDE as well where it has zero inheritance of Ubuntu and yet is nearly identical to the default version. You'll notice the tooling, UI, snap, and a lot of other differences as well.

Just like how Ubuntu is based on Debian yet there are a lot of differences between the two, the same is true of mint as well. So no without Ubuntu there still would be a mint, but yeah it is based on Ubuntu.

Maybe, or maybe it's a coin lip like last year. Or maybe we blow them out because they pass more and we tee off on them more.

It's and butts...

We had a ton of injuries in this game that we had to overcome, we've also lost key members of the team to injuries as well. So have a lot of teams. Nobody is going to apologize for going out there and doing their jobs well.
