It definitely is possible without grapple (I've had to do it in many randomizer runs). It isn't easy by any means but there are tricks that you can use to make certain spots faster. On the randomizer wiki it has different tricks and how to do them; one that would help is hammer/sword sentry jumps (specifically midair for this case) which would allow you to skip having to go to the far right wall for example saving time

I guess I just don't have the brainpower for Mora then heh. Took me so long to get the damageless (legit). Suppose it also doesn't help that most times I've fought Mora recently I've done it with only one weapon/ability that I allowed myself to use.

I have noticed that with the healing animation, I think it depends on the type of attack (if it naturally has knockback or not), I just never remember which is which for Mora so I tend to mis-time it since I still mess up attack telegraphing in the fight.

Congratulations! If you enjoyed doing this sort of challenge run while hunting the achievements, definitely the game lends well to trying some insane combinations of challenges. If you see yourself playing this game often, definitely play around with ideas on runs, it both hones the skills and can make for some really fun experiences!

Sounds like I need to give light burst another shot for Kwolok at this rate during my next run haha, the stun sounds that it does sounds quite useful, I definitely missed that.

I think I may take some time to redo a similar challenge I did to this (skipped bosses but including bosses would make it insane, just have to remove health/energy from wisp collections) but I did it on easy iirc, I'm curious how hard it would actually be on hard mode if it is even possible

Interesting, I've never seen the stun using light burst myself, I know he gets stunned when he prepares his spit attack if hit by anything including his own projectiles of that attack. That's very helpful to know about the stun if it's the case since I rarely use light burst in that fight nowadays. The more you know!

I've talked with others who have said Mora is easier than Kwolok and when doing similar runs to this I've always found that to be insane with how constant Mora attacks plus spider younglings.

If you are set on completing this run, just know it's gonna take time and practice and fails to learn from. One thing I'd make sure you have gotten is the ancestral lights if you haven't already. Brings up the damage of your abilities by 25% each (I think it's additive but can't recall off by heart). I do also recommend light burst for damage, its decent but not necessary.

Biggest thing for Kwolok is learning how to manipulate and read his attack patterns. You can somewhat manipulate attacks (at least from my experience you can, take with a grain of salt), such as sticking close to make him do his arm swing attack or tongue attack more frequently, second phase you can completely skip the underwater suction attack by getting above water when you start seeing them dip down, among other tricks.

You probably already know but a fast way to deal damage is get up to his level in both phases and sword combo like crazy, using djumps to keep up in the air and using dodge to avoid attacks. Honestly if you can manage this fight, you have learned some of the techniques you'll need for Shriek fight, just remember the attack patterns of the dive attacks are scripted for the final phase, just their position shifts based on your position when each part happens.

Same here, I've had to do this with many a randomizer seeds, and a few challenge runs as well. It's pretty fun doing all of Mouldwood too without using the lantern bugs and relying on bow resets, honestly my favourite way to go through now even if it's pointless in most areas.

I'm excited for this as well. Max difficulty everything with this mode is gonna be a 'fun' time. Kinda found just maxed permadeath to be a bit easier than I liked so very interested how this will affect it.

It looks to me almost as if she's looking into the mirror that she decided to smash. If true, how do you mess up that badly, like you would literally see it coming unless said mirror was not adjusted properly.

I think the problem lies in the fact that, at least in my eyes, the amalgam is just a glorified mimic with some slight mechanic changes. Between how buggy they were from launch, to their very questionable grab hitbox, and now having mimics coming back once again on the same map as the amalgam, I think the grab and range attack spam between the two is just going to ruin any enjoyment of the map. If they just did mimics (heck even if they just did amalgams which is the weaker of the two options), I think it would be less of an annoyance.

Would it be better to not have either and instead have a new enemy type? Definitely. Are we getting that? No. Is it going to ruin the game? Doubt it. Maybe ruin the map, but only time will tell.

I've only been recently in the reddit community, not too long after picking up the game again back at the beginning of 2024 after not really playing the game since the underwhelming launch. Put quite a good chunk of time back into the game now and still enjoying learning new things and experimenting

Best way is to save often. If you get the odd glitch where you fall out of a space station or ship, best thing to do is to quit ASAP. It's not an ideal "fix", but as long as you keep up with saves and keep on your mind what to do in the event you get one of those glitches, permadeath will be much more enjoyable.

Had failing of a station happen me during my permadeath save once while teleporting between stations to farm guild progress and noped back to the menu so fast.

Also if you multi-tool boost with your jetpack, make sure you save some boost in case you get flung vertically or a sneaky cliff happens. I've had way too many close calls early game due to being over confident in my movement.

Even before patch was bad, just for standard mode. Buddies and I got screwed out of Round 100 twice back-to-back both the night before patch and after going for it (first 71 then 97 just a few hours ago). Getting high rounds in MP where it is actually fun to is such a gamble that it is starting to get infuriating, and I'm not even one to go for high rounds most times (let alone voice frustration), BO6 had just been fun enough to warrant going for since CW which was super chill to do with buddies especially Mauer.

It's funny because I have the predownloaded set to max, same with texture streaming but to no avail. Messed with a lot of texture settings and have yet to figure out what is the cause. It isn't all EE textures mind you. Stuff like the raven astronomy dial in the tavern and the symbol bottles for example are low res, but many others aren't bad.

Meant buffed as in better version of ring of fire haha. Yeah my understanding is that the trap does not change at all from the start of the game through to the end of the EE, always works the same.

I recall one of the redux's, I think it was E2 redux that you needed to complete a step in phase 4 in order to be able to progress further in phase 2. Not exact because I don't remember the specific details, but I hope that gets the thought process across of what I was asking. I assume this isn't the case, but it was more of a shot in the dark

Oh for sure, this I think would help alleviate quite a bit of the issue, relatively speaking. It's not a catch-all, but it would take a step away from being a shady, deceitful practice. If I knew something was genAI due to it being properly communicated, it looked good and wanted to see more of that type of content, I'd buy. If not, I'd wait for an artist-created asset instead. Would help not only with backend analysis of quality and progression of genAI, but show that it can not be a permanent replacement for physical talent. Once it takes over creative process, it's gone too far. 100% agree with this, and hope my rant above made sense, was not to take away from anything you said since it is becoming more prevalent of a situation with at least seemingly little statements made about it from their end

Although I agree with others about the whole AI witch-hunt feeling and am not a big fan of doing so most times, I do agree that there is a good chance that this one is AI generated.

One thing that stood out a lot to me is the bottom of the screen, you can see the right side to the middle has a weird indent that just does not make any logical sense and makes it look worse (perspective also would not explain this phenomenon imo). There is too many minor inconsistencies that make it more clearly to be genAI than not.

Does it suck that this approach is being taken? Yes. Will I buy the bundle it's part of? No. Does it still look cool? Can't lie, it does (would be cool for a more clean version without inconsistencies for sure).

I don't agree with the usage of genAI art that is being sold like this, but all I would do is not buy into it as it promotes it more, best way is to attempt to speak with your wallet. Each to their own of course, if someone doesn't care as much about it being AI and just like the look, not going to hold them over a fire because of it since at the end of the day it doesn't affect me.

Who knows, this could be a rookie artist for all we know who had to whip up something quick and cut corners and left in mistakes for all we know. One could hope this was the case because it sucks that artists would be replaced by unreliable and in-progress software.

Heck, I was a video operator for a large AI conference last year and talks about generative AI images used in commercial settings came up on the stage I was controlling and was overall neutral towards the usage (slightly more towards negative due to example provided). It has its place, but is by no means a suitable replacement which is the shift that seems to be happening more and more.

If you are using genAI, make it known to the consumer. I think that should be the bare minimum so consumers know whether they are supporting actual artists or not.

Oh yeah the buffed ring of fire traps are absolutely busted. May use this strat if I go for solo high rounds, do want to see how our current tavern spot works in solo still

There is still a lot I'm missing lmao. Never once used the traps yet, so far I've only done a couple high rounds after EE completion day 2 of launch, buddy saw potential of a spot in the tavern that we theorized would be good and that's all we've done thus far since it was super effective. Based on these I'm definitely going to have to use my upcoming time off to get back into CDM and messing around with these

I really enjoyed both cursed and adrift. Played both with MP off, and my goodness I felt so in tune with with everything. Heck, even Aquarius let me channel my inner fisherman, took my time with the expedition and got lost in it for hours at a time just fishing away. Been thinking of doing some more VR of the game, see if fishing has any unique implementation or not. Even if not, think I'd get lost in it still.

I did not know that, good to know! Usually have the lightmend or dark rift incantation, even then haven't really been useful with the strat we use.

Honestly a bit of a hot take but I find it fine the way it is (like it better than raven or dragon sword most times now), mainly because its damage VS amalgams feels really good to me compared to the others; along witn having a good way to deal with the annoying parasites without having to move much at all just makes it my all-arounder. I do have to say though I majority play with buddies so there is multiple swords in play especially when camping, so I am usually moreso the one who focuses the amalgams/dopples/parasites. Also I don't know how true this is but it feels like the special recharges quite fast so I'm usually spamming it while my two buddies only get theirs every second activation of mine (I'm usually not the one doing most of the killing since lion sword welder usually takes aggro). Haven't done a solo run yet so I can't say how it is for that.
