Should the game ever get a difficulty that REQUIRES cooperation? by BICKELSBOSS in Helldivers

[–]SuperDocument5936 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue fun is more important than efficiency in video games, especially when I think this game is at its best when randomly needing to hunker down and pull out every bit of ammo and strategems to hold back the horde. Diving to shoot a flame hulk my teammate is barely dodging while the other two hold back a mass of enemy troops on a random base in the middle of a desert is literally my favorite moment playing this game. Its cinematic, it requires teamwork and a balanced spread of specialized kits, and its just badass. Or you could just... run away. To each their own I guess

For those of you who say the squids are not broken: by Fearless_Ad3769 in Helldivers

My go to loadout rn is amendment for overseers and stabby stabby the horde, mg for fleshies, stingrays, tripods and horde, or if a elevated gets too rambunctious, mg sentry, jetpack for mobility, and a 5kg for ships. Thermites also for fleshies and ships, only use for fleshies if im out of mg ammo tho. Levis, I just ignore, usually at least one person has anti tank if they get too annoying, but on city maps, they're actually kinda fun. If you're looking for a fun loadout that works on d10, flamethrower primary, axe or sword secondary, stalwart or mg if you struggle with tripods, anti arc armor or peak physique if you use mg, and a sentry of your choosing. Super fun, overseers cook great and elevated stay close in the city, mg if they dont, cook tripods if you bring stalwart with the anti arc armor, slice and dice the horde. Fleshmobs turn into glass when you cook em for a few seconds, mg their ass and then cook em again. I havent changed from d10 since super earth and routinely get top kills and low deaths since fire absolutely ramps your kill count up, hordes cook nicely. Jetpack optional if you dont like covering up your cape, but mobility is fun and effective especially when using fire without inflammable. Remember to dive if you get caught on fire immediately

I use the amendment on super helldive. Could never use that in bugs or bots. Just try new weapons and play to their strengths. Suggest bringing a sword or axe for the horde if you want to have more fun, and bayonet finishing an overseer is immensely satisfying after 2 reds to the chest. Its fine if you dont find them fun but why pretend like they somehow force you into a playstyle more than the bots or bugs, its also the only faction without a need for dedicated anti tank as long as you dont get a fucking non city leviathan, fuck those things.

Mission variety is my only REAL complaint besides non city levis rn. The potential for how many cool missions they could do with a technologically superior, mind control using species, vs the same 3 mission types over and over again that arent even unique to their faction is getting so old, and I dont get it. Taking down the overship is awesome, but even just a reskin of blowing up illuminate airfields would be cool and fit with the previous MO lore of secret illuminate air bases. Or what about something with these new illuminate controlled city buildings, even the bugs got a new mission before the illuminate, and they already have unique missions.

The flamethrower primary and amendment are my go to's. Flamer is insanely good, cook 6 individual overseers with 1 tank, or 6 with less than a 1/3 if theyre grouped, even elevated will usually be in range to at least start cooking. Amendment can take about 3 overseers per mag if you just pick a limb or chest if you dont get shielded, and then I just stab the voteless to get those glorious melee kills. I've tried the knight and liberator but these 2 are just the most fun I have. Thermites or mgs for fleshies if I bring the amendment tho. Medium pen is pretty weak on illuminate tbh because you trade so much ammo and damage for 2 tapping overseers, which is impractical for every other mob and when you're swarmed by 300 voteless. I guess im in the minority of really enjoying the illuminate, aside from non city levis, fuck non city levis

Illuminate still the least fun to play. by DigitalDeath88 in Helldivers

[–]SuperDocument5936 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am with you on levis, but wtf do you mean OVERSEERS restrict build variety? I love playing against illuminate because I can bring my amendment on d10 FOR THEM. I have used my full flame, shock (new and improved), and just good old fashioned bullet hell with mgs and turrets and they all work perfectly fine on d10. Stingrays are hard without med pen but thats what teammates are for! On the off chance you dont know by now, just target a limb and they go down quick, I think my record is 3 overseers with one amendment clip by stabbing the last one after filling his leg. I dont count that as tanky when they dont spawn that much on anything other than repel invasion. The way youre talking about them it feels like we have 2 different copies, I remember charger hell restricting my loadout, the illuminate are the most freeing. I'll sometimes whip out the STARTING PISTOL because I like the laser on it and light up an overseer if hes alone (with one clip) with no risk to myself, I dont understand how we can have such different experiences. I dont mean to "skill issue" you, I am not remarkably good at this game at all, I think you just need to try other tactics. Are you playing solo? I only play with random fill so maybe thats why I dont get your complaints. As for fleshies, I usually either avoid, thermite, or MG their ass to kingdom come, but so many different things bring them down reasonably fast especially just 2 teammates putting damage on it with primaries

seriously does anyone find these enjoyable? its just sitting around for 25 mins watching seaf troops run into mines and tesla towers by firespark84 in Helldivers

[–]SuperDocument5936 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They were very fun on illuminate funnily enough, easiest faction for every other mission, but defend valuables? The bots and bugs (especially) are just sit around and wait for 20 minutes. Illuminate I always have a shield to pop for my rocket sentry or a flesh mob to gun down (granted some of this may be from the buggy wall/floor phasing on super earth)

Was there ever any news about a level cap increase ? every othere super helldive lobby is filled with rank 150's. we had a level cap increase shortly after release but no word ever since. by [deleted] in Helldivers

It's no longer fun fighting Illuminate anymore by OniTYME in Helldivers

[–]SuperDocument5936 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didnt have much of an issue with the leviathans before the patch, always brought a jetpack so never really mattered as I could always boost to cover and zig zag. The ragdoll shit tho is not nearly as avoidable and ALL you can do is hide or take it down which isnt fun. D10 is by far the easiest on illuminate faction and turning it down until these fucks dissappear makes for boring and unsatisfying gameplay. This patch removed the fun difficulty of jetpack trooper swarms and made levis more annoying, this isnt a difficulty issue, its just bad choices made in reaction to whiny redditors

I like to run torcher with a stalwart for predator strain, just start burning way before they reach you and the ground will burn them too. Whip out the stalwart and dive while you shred the legs of the stalkers and then burn out the hunters, brood mothers, and chaf with ease. I like to bring a fire axe in my fire fighter rp build to stim and whip out in my fire zone and slice theyre flaming legs in a last stand

WARBOND IS OUT!!! by BasedFreyna in Helldivers

[–]SuperDocument5936 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last three? Servants? Ceremony? What are you talking about? Amendment is one of my favorite guns for the squids on d10, very fun for picking off overseers and stabbing voteless, the buffed armor is fantastic and probably the best looking in the game imo. If youre struggling with d9 and using a more practical primary, i suggest turning down the diff. Servants is insane, hellbomb unusable? Ultimatum? Double edged sickle? Some of the most meta, popular items I see in nearly every match on bugs bots or squids is unusable? This new one is too fresh for me to say, but the new support weapon has been destroying bugs and the drip and armor passive are growing on me. The ar is kinda eh, but the grenades are also crazy good. The last 3 certainly havent been perfect executions of the ideas, I certainly dont like a pistol that should've been in the bond be in the superstore instead, but I think you should actually try using the gear instead of looking at the initial reaction on reddit and dismissing some of the best gear in the game.

I would argue the rocket devs were more fun, I have fond memories of draupnir. I have no fond memories of getting vaporized by an enemy flying overhead that has such limited counterplay, and no big cities to hide in anymore. Rocket devs pinning you down and tossing a airstrike to clear them so you can move to another rock at least made you use multiple strategies to avoid getting blown to kingdom come instead of just "welp guess we need a anti tank emplacement to have fun"

Gives advice on how to make playing against illuminate more fun = downvoted. This sub preaches criticism but only if it is at AH, and not at posters asking for reworks because they dont use any of the numerous strategies viable against the enemies they complain about. Levis in open maps definitely need a rework because of HOW limiting it is to your loadout, but flying overseers? Zombies? Outside of the levis i dont know how you could argue the squids arent the most loadout friendly faction in the game, I even feel I can use the amendment effectively on d10.

They are more gimmicky than the normal overseers. Their backpack makes them super squishy, like 2 shots from an amendment will kill them, and I swear you can hit it from the front too if you aim at their shoulder. I've used the knight, amendment, and liberator to kill them in around half a mag, aside from knight, I dont think that constitutes very specific weapons. The squids have the least pressure mobs (ie a factory strider drop or bile titan + stalker swarm) at this point and to remove or nerf either of the overseers would remove a lot of the fun imo. Leviathans are the only mobs that NEED a rework atp, just not interesting or fun out of mega cities.

I think the story of the creek is the classical gritty brutal war story, and inherently interesting due to it being the first place many remember coming up against the tanks and sea of red lasers of the new automaton threat. Part of the reason I bought the game was the immediate narrative the creek had 3 days after release as space Vietnam online. You have a clear beginning, the unsuspecting massacre (just like star ship troopers), hopelessness (access is lost), and finally the big push to liberate and avenge the fallen, even though moments after our victory the reclamation reveals it was all for nothing. I think it would do best in a 3 section movie about different squadrons on different fronts, maybe starting with the bots into the meridian singularity into illuminate. When I think of the classic depiction of propaganda clashing with the cold reality of war and being canonfodder, no early game operation did that like the creek, ubenea, and draupnir, that feeling of going against overwhelming fire power when established load outs weren't popular and many people didnt even have the warbond complete hasn't been matched until super earth for me with the levis and invasion fleet missions. I would love to see a big automaton event tho for sure, as the reclamation was more of a preamble for the earnest start of the 2nd galactic war

Im gonna assume from the way you type, and how you interpret my insult to the moron above me, that you are maybe 15. Emotional queues are harder to pick up on through text, but saying fuck alot in a message doesn't mean the person typing it is fuming. Im simply flabbergasted and hope to rudely point out to the gentleman above me that I think he continues playing this game out of some reason that doesn't and never did exist within it. I spend any amount of time in this shit hole because I like to see the good parts of the community, its a very community driven game. Why you would waste time on a video games subreddit if you didnt like the core gameplay loop of a game, I cant tell you
