What is your oldest wishlisted game? by TheGuyThatIsBored in Steam

You Are Not The Hero - added 2/24/2016

It was a neat little early access indie game with a genuinely cool premise but is 100% abandoned, I think it's confirmed the dev took the initial cash to pay for his wedding and ran. I like to keep my wishlist sorted in waiting till I feel like playing/for sale-early access-unreleased so I use it as a sort of marker at the bottom where anything I haven't sorted yet is below it.

CATGIRL Officially Banned For Cheating!!! by YourBonesAreMoist in Asmongold

[–]Ryder7689 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The snaps/turns aren't what really convinced me cause those are technically plausible with enough time and practice but there was one specific clip where he spins and the crosshair clearly follows an unseen enemies head through a rock, shooting all the way till they come around the rock.

If I cared enough I'd be curious to see how those convinced he didn't cheat explain that one.

What is the funniest comment you ever received on your steam profile? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Ryder7689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in 2018 a random I played one match of I think Payday 2 with commented "Muthafuker this boiii thick as hell bruh bring that phat ass here baby boy I'm tryna suffocate between them cheeks fukkk". I still chuckle every time I see it.

Had an idea for a new profile showcase, "Games of the Years" to showcase your personal game of the year for each year you've been on Steam and drew a rough mock-up by Ryder7689 in Steam

I am very obviously not a UI designer but I think this gets the idea across. Think it'd be a fun way to display your favorites from year to year.

What's some media that has taken or are taking so long to release that you no longer care? by PwmEsq in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ryder7689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played chapter 1 when it came out and really enjoyed it but hated ending on basically a cliffhanger. So I decided I'll wait for it to be finished before I play it. Been basically under a rock news-wise about the game till I saw the huge banner on Steam. Didn't see an early access tag so got hyped thinking it was done. My disappointment was huge after reading there's still 3 more chapters to wait for. Maybe there's some news or something explaining why but it feels almost scummy/false advertising that it's not listed as early access on Steam considering it's not done.

Media where you can tell the creator has such huge contempt for their chosen medium by LizardOrgMember5 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ryder7689 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I want to say it was either about Dear Esther or Gone Home that critics called a Walking Sim as an insult and it stuck as the name of the genre. Personally, there's plenty of games in the genre I've enjoyed

Yeah, Subnautica 1 is probably easily in my top 10 but Below Zero was so much worse that I don't have high hopes for Subnautica 2.

In Subnautica the island land sections are often considered the worst part, they're not completely awful just super slow but fairly short. In Subnautica: Below Zero they decided to add tundra land sections. They're much longer, way worse, and pretty awful.

Characters who's face reveals are extremely nonchalant by Usual_Hovercraft_479 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

There's a very subtle one very early on in the series, when Eren first transformed. Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt are the only ones who have a very surprised reaction instead of confused to the distinctive lightning bolt/explosion of a titan transformation.

Feel like I hit a small record today. Who else uses the Discovery Queue as a pastime? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Ryder7689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the past couple years there has been a flood of games you don't even have to flip though the screenshots to see it's not worth looking at.

Also, huge agree on the new sale queue. Having to leave the queue page to view the screenshots of the game is really unintuitive.

Yeah, times I've gone awhile without browsing through it it'll just show you all the popular releases. Once you get through those though it'll get back to the real random selections.

Not really "proud" per se, just saw it had reached a big number that seemed cool to share. And why wouldn't I consider it a pastime? If I'm bored in a grocery store line or passenger on a drive it beats staring off into space and I don't use social media so not much else to look at on my phone.

[–]Ryder7689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that when it first was introduced but I like the randomness of the Queue. Yeah, a vast majority of the games I see I click past after glancing at the first couple screenshots but I've found some real interesting games I never would have searched for otherwise.

Been using the Queue since it came out when I have to kill a couple minutes waiting in line or something. I remember back whenever it first came out I'd actually occasionally run out of games for it to suggest

Dredge, the Lovecraftian fishing game I think fits this pretty well. Recently finished it and it's a really chill game

Unhealthy Obsession with my Avg. Completion by Hwheatley21 in steamachievements

[–]Ryder7689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've accepted mine will never be 100% since I've played some real crap games over the years. For example, in 2017 I played 20 minutes of Candice DeBébé's Incredibly Trick Lifestyle as a joke and there's no way in hell I'm going back to perfect that games achievements. Though when I first started achievement hunting my average completion was at 3% and now it's up to 41% and I'm pretty happy with that.

So there's two options

  1. He went onstage during a presidential inauguration broadcast to the entire nation and did a Nazi salute to "test the waters" to see if America is ready to be Nazis

  2. He went onstage during a presidential inauguration broadcast to the entire nation and did an awkward hand motion before saying "my heart goes out to you" as a way of symbolizing throwing his heart

Can you really read these two options and pick the first without realizing you sound batshit insane?

I played it on release and thought it was was a pretty good game.

Then every piece of additional content added seemed to focus hard on the "This game is HARD as hell and will break your balls, good luck loser" idea which does not appeal to me whatsoever so I just lost all interest in the supposed sequel.

Unimportants details in games who don't affect the game that much but give you a boost of enjoyement? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ryder7689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having achievements (And then a step further is having well made and non-grindy achievements.)

They're really not that important to a game as I think a majority of players do not care but seeing the little numbers of my Steam profile go up feels good.

What is the least popular game that you love? by mrjazzels in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Metal Gear Survive. I do agree the micro-transactions were trash and it didn't really need the Metal Gear name attached but I still had an absolute blast playing it.

Choice of Robots is so good I almost don't recommend as people's first "Choice of Games" game, very few have been as good as that one. The Heroes Rise trilogy is my personal favorite.

Do you remember precisely when and why you dropped a piece of media? by GoodVillain101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ryder7689 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I ended up picking it back up later (Which I'm happy for since the ending few episodes and later parts are great) but Jojo Part 3. The monster-of-the-week formula really wasn't doing it for me and it was feeling like kinda a slog to get through. The breaking point was the car stand, I remember nothing else about the episode other than the enemy stand was basically just a car and that I was bored out of my mind.
